Home colour or grey highlights/meche for covering grey hair?

I've never had my hair coloured before, but I'm mid 40s now and I'm getting greyer, especially at the sides. I'm undecided what to do, but my options are:

1. Go grey gracefully.
2. Highlights.
3. Buy a box colour and do myself.

I'd appreciate any advice. Thanks.
