Which size bike?

I'm looking at buying a new bike for my 10 year old and I'm after some advice!

Specifically looking at the Specialized Rockhopper 27.5" wheel in a XS. Can't seem to find the XXS in stock anywhere! (which is a 26" wheel)

Panicking that the 27.5" will be too big! Although I have seen some of the children on similar bikes who are a similar size to him at the school he attends.

Does anyone own this bike? Or does anyone have any advice on sizing?

I'd also appreciate any information regarding mountain bikes people have bought for their children etc.. height of child/size of frame/wheels etc..

Thanks 😊

A quick google of rockhopper and height guide came up with this. Im sure there will probably be one somewhere with inside leg measurements as well if you want to be doubly sure.

My (averaged sized) dc is 8 and hes just gone up to a 26" islabike - so a 27.5 might fit a 10 year old.

Hi, did you ever buy this bike OP? I've just taken my 11 yr old son to try one after reading your post. He's 147cm (4' 10" in old money ) He sat on the XS but then tried a Small and rode it perfectly in the bike shop carpark. It's a lovely bike and we're buying it for him for Christmas.

Hi, yes I did eventually buy the XS size!

However, due to the fact that his is also for Christmas, I haven't seen him on it yet but I can see that it will fit him just fine though😊

It's good you were able to take your son to try the sizes! I'd say go for the one he feels most comfortable on 🚲

For reference he is 135cm.

Hope this helps!
