Hello,

not sure if I have posted in right bit, apologies if not.

I have a 19 month old who is constipated, he keeps going onto the floor to sit in poo position and going bright red pushing, all that's in his nappies is little poo specks and skids. he didn't sleep last night because of the discomfort. We tried pears, apple, apple juice etc he doesn't have a terrible diet and not despite having a little constipation in the past, not to this level. we tried movical this morning but his only meant to have 1 a day

drs wont pick up, Chemist said they can only give us something if we call 111.

has anyone had this issue before and managed to find a solution to help pass the poo?

Thanks all

We've been through this with DD. Her problem was that she was constipated once and then it hurt pooping so then she started to hold them in and get constipated regularly. We had most success with hot baths but if it was really bad we'd use a glycerine suppository.

We had to give her a stool softener every day for ages else the same thing would happen (we did 1-3 doses per day of lactulose I think it was). Eventually she just started pooping normally again, no idea why.

We had this for ages - sorry you have it to op!

we worked out that bananas constipated our little one so cut those out.

we also did movicol but I was conservative about it as didn’t want her to become like a cousin who is still dependent on it at 10.

did all the pears sachets etc as well and lots of lollies. All the liquids helped. We gave her lots of squash and ribena to keep her hydrated.also did baths like PP and didn’t make a big deal if she pooped in the bath.

We used to walk around with her holding our hand when she need to go to get it moving. Sometimes she would lie on the sofa being cuddled and watching tv and that would just help her relax and push. Also used to pop her on the potty and sometimes that would help.

it is totally resolved now she is potty trained, she can eat everything now and everything seems to work well.

good luck OP - I hope your journey is not as long as ours!! Xx
