Citalopram vs Sertraline for weight gain

Does anyone have any experience of comparing these two anti depressants and weight gain e.g. which causes less gain? And if you were on one, did you change to another anti depressant because of weight gain and notice an improvement?

I am on citalopram currently and the weight is piling on, seems like every time I weigh myself it's gone up. I just wondered if changing the medication would help.

Now that I think about it, I know of 3 people who take antidepressants (no idea which ones) and they are all much bigger than they used to be. Especially my mother-in-law; she is morbidly obese but barely eats anything other than fruit. She's been on antidepressants for years.

Scary.

I've not noticed weight gain with citalopram. I have got bigger, yes, but just as I've got older & less mobile! DD has sertraline & it doesn't seem to have affected her weight. DS also (both ASD) & he's like a whippet!

I put on 2 stone on sertraline. Lost it easily after coming off it and have maintained the loss without effort.

I put on weight on sertraline and have not lost it
Not on the meds any more

I'm weaning off citalopram now as I've gained 11kg. Like pp's nothing I do makes me lose it. It's depressing and frustrating and I'm sick of buying bigger and bigger clothes. I've always been slim and am now in the overweight category for my bmi.

I'm down to 5mg and I'm stopping after today. Please someone tell me you do actually manage to lose the weight and my metabolism isn't stuffed forever.

Not either of the drugs mentioned, but I put on three stone on prozac (and was already two stone overweight pp). my doctor swore blind it wasn't prozac. I stopped in April and have lost two stone already without doing anything different.

I’m on Escitalopram longterm and I’ve gained a few pounds, but it could also be my middle-aged slowing metabolism. Not a significant weight gain, half a stone.

I gained three stone on Sertraline. I've come off it and lost a stone, but seem to be stuck with the extra two stone.

I've been on Zoloft (Sertraline) for a long time, and it has worked really well for me in terms of mood stabilization. As for weight gain, yes, it’s been somewhat noticeable, but I’ve found that staying active and watching my diet helps a lot. Strength training and high-protein meals keep my metabolism up, and intermittent fasting has also been useful in maintaining balance. That said, everyone reacts differently, and weight changes can depend on many factors like metabolism and lifestyle.

By the way, I wanted to share something—I recently started ordering Sertraline from this pharmacy: global-world-delivery.com/categories/Depression/Zoloft. The delivery is always fast, but more importantly, Zoloft from this pharmacy works significantly better than what I used to get from another place.

Maybe this could be helpful to someone! 💙
