Plug adapters - Italy and France question

Can I use the same plug adapter I took to Italy earlier in the year for a few days in France? The online info confuses me! I'm pretty sure the two round pins are the same for both countries but the more I investigate, the more I see about slightly different sizes. Unfortunately my adapter isn't labelled with country suitability.

We found they were different in the places we stayed France and Italy this summer but luckily had taken the two different sizes by accident thinking they were the same. Sorry that’s not terribly helpful but maybe go for a new one that is a universal adaptor?

Hmm not what I was hoping to hear Foxfeeder! We have 5 adapters in the junk drawer and I don't really want to get another but maybe "universal" is the way to go - assume you can get these in airport shops (off early tomorrow).
