Hi, where would you recommend in central Leeds for a special lunch (or perhaps dinner)? Mid range budget.

It's for tomorrow!

Thanks!

Estabulo

RightOnTheEdge · 21/09/2022 17:29

I love Fazenda.
It's a Brazilian restaurant at Granary Wharf overlooking the canal.

Bigoldmachine · 21/09/2022 17:32

Is Bibi’s still there?

maryberryslayers · 21/09/2022 17:33

Sous Le Nez. Old school French, the food is incredible.
Recommend French onion soup and steaks.

Tharavadu near the train station for the best Indian food ever (have the fish curry). Or Bondo Bust next door for a more relaxed street food vibe (BB is vegetarian). Agreed re: Living Italy is lovely. Fazenda and Estabulo only if you’re VERY into meat but both excellent and interesting experience! Senbon Sakura on Great George street for lovely Japanese / Bento reasonably priced.

Patienceisntvirtuous · 21/09/2022 18:04

The ivy, although double check they're accepting walk ins/book.

I'll second bondo bust!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 21/09/2022 18:10

Bondobust is just cafe street food. Not at all 'special' feeling, although tasty enough. I actually much prefer the place next door, Tharavadu as previously mentioned - they do a nice thali and the dosas are great. And it's a proper (albeit old-school) restaurant, unlike Bondobust.

2nd liveinitaly great food and cocktails

OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea · 21/09/2022 18:12

Tharavadu is fantastic.

villamariavintrapp · 21/09/2022 18:14

We love Bundobust! It's not 'fancy' but that's not our style anyway. Tharavadu also on our list

Igmum · 21/09/2022 18:16

I love the Oxford Place www.theoxfordplace.co.uk/ - next to the Town Hall so close to the station if that helps. It's all gluten free but you would really never know it. I don't usually eat gluten free, I just love this restaurant (mmmm think I need to think of a reason to go there again 😋)

Bibis is awful
Oxford Place, Iberica, El gato negro, Tiffin Room, Sukothai

I didn’t know there was an El Gato in Leeds too.
Def recommend

Octomore · 21/09/2022 18:30

Stuzzi is also very good

Octomore · 21/09/2022 18:31

Bibis is okay, but wouldn't go there for a special occasion

SpicePearl · 21/09/2022 18:33

Crafthouse or Blackhouse could be nice! I second El Gato. LivinItaly is lovely but it has a lunch menu that lends itself to office workers during the week so may not feel overly ‘special’.

Tharavadu is fantastic.

Another vote for Tharavadu.

rosiebl · 21/09/2022 20:09

We went to Dakota recently and it was amazing.

TR888 · 22/09/2022 10:33

Thanks for all the ideas! I'm on my way to Leeds now and I can't wait to try Tharavadu. It sounds like most of you rate it very highly Grin

Tharavadu is a good shout. If you can't get in, Stuzzi would be my next choice.
