Suffering a rotten common cold- what's the best remedy

So I'm loaded with the cold- sore head, eyes, sneezing, nose and eyes watering like a tap and I feel miserable. I know there's nothing really that can help and I just need to ride it out, but what do you find helps when you're feeling so miserable?

I take paracetamol and ibuprofen on rotation, and drink warm blackcurrant.

Sudafed, paracetamol and ibuprofen. It's rubbish isn't it.

Thanks guys. Yes I feel horrid. I don't normally get sick but when I do I feel like a get a triple dose lol. I have taken the wee capsule nurophen (spelt wrong lol) and I'm waiting for then to kick in.

Lots of liquids (apple juice from concentrate reminds me of being sick when I was a kid, so is super comforting to me), olbas oil on your pillow and trash tv. Get well soon!

I like lemsip by day and night nurse by night.

JenniferBarkley · 21/09/2022 07:04

Day nurse, fluids and resting as much as you can. I couldn't believe the difference it made to be able to work from home when ill after I moved jobs years ago. My commute is long, so being able to get up a bit later and a bit slower and save the energy of the walk etc made a big difference.

greenacrylicpaint · 21/09/2022 07:08

rest and fluids.

take ibuprofen or paracetamol to relieve headache. but if you can stay wrapped up in bed and sleep it off.

RainbowToes · 21/09/2022 07:14

Sinutabs are the only thing that properly works for me, they sort out the congestion and headache.

CherryMonday · 21/09/2022 07:15

Poor you OP, colds are rubbish. Beechams liquid and chicken broth are my favourite treatments.

Yika · 21/09/2022 07:15

Hot water with fresh lemon juice squeezed in, honey, ginger and a pinch of cayenne pepper.

thesunwillout · 21/09/2022 07:18

I've got it. Beconase nasal spray has also helped a bit. The one for hayfever.
Paracetamol, ibuprofen alternated.

26 cups of hot tea a day.

Hopefully you'll be better soon.
