Dreaded business trip

Work sends me on a business trip to Canada for 2 to 4 weeks. I am dreading it as it is a nightmare with childcare, and this will be my first time being apart from my DD4 and DD2. Never left them overnight.

DH is supportive and can probably just about manage with help from grandparents.

Any advice or tips from those who have done it before? How to tell DDs as the younger one probably won't understand. They are both very attached to me. Emotionally I am also not in the best place as I originally declined the trip but was 'forced' to go. Basically told I will get a disciplinary if I don't have a good reason, which I know is fair as they do need me there.

At that age they totally live in the moment and will adapt very quickly - but probably after a rocky first few days so prepare DH for some tears early on but they will soon get in their groove.

How flexible is your schedule when you're there? Can you block time to do bedtime stories with them via Zoom?

All the shortcuts / help you can buy at home - meal boxes, cleaners, gardeners, babysitters (is youngest at nursery could you ask staff there if they wanted extra money?), fun days out at the weekends to pass the time, meals out to save cook / clear up.
