It’s a long shot, but can anyone read this signature? It’s under a photo and I’ve stared at it for too long!

I’ve included the date as an additional example.

Bob Numan?

CandyLeBonBon · 20/09/2022 20:05

Is the photo anything to do with grace Kelly?

DisforDarkChocolate · 20/09/2022 20:06

I think Bob Newman too.

NomDePrune · 20/09/2022 20:07

Bob Nunn

Oooh - lots of similar answers - thank you!

Sadly, not as exciting a subject as Grace Kelly. Just a lovely landmark that was demolished a long time ago

Have you reverse image searches the photograph, @browneyesblue?

Barb newman?

browneyesblue · 20/09/2022 20:25

Oh my goodness - I think you’ve got it! I had done a reverse image search, which had given me the area the photo was taken, but a search for Bob Nunn has found a photographer from the right time and area!

Amazing, thank you all so much.

I’m afraid it probably isn’t a very exciting photo - I just like it. It’s a gate that was demolished in the 60s. There’s something about the fact that it all seems so peaceful and normal, yet it was taken while the country was at war. Normality in difficult times.

Ahh why would such a lovely gate have been demolished!! Where was it OP?

browneyesblue · 20/09/2022 21:33

Cassiobury Park gate - it was demolished around 1969 to widen a road.

I looked up Bob Nunn and found this lovely picture of him as a young man from Watford Museum. I also found a copy of a price list from his shop. I’ve enjoyed my little browse in the past and being able to find out a bit more about my print 😊

I thought it was Cassiobury Gate....but then thought nah not on MN!

The park is fabulous.
It has clear picture boards(??) You can look through that show how original buildings etc looked.

😂 Even on MN!

I’ve been so, so close, but haven’t made it there. I was at Watford school of music a couple of months ago and was planning to walk over, but a sick child led to a quick change of plans! Next time though.
