Do I need a doctor?

Advice welcome here. I can feel some lumps close to my nipple on one breast. They're sore when I press on them and sore when I sleep on that side in bed- so much so I have to move. It feels like a large, hard mass, maybe about the size of a 50p?? Other breast feels totally normal. Is this a straight to the doctor situation or a watch and see? For context, I'm 47, still having periods (in fact I'm due one anytime now). Definitely not breastfeeding and haven't for a number of years.

Yes of course you need to see a doctor op. Lumps in breast shouldn’t be ignored

Thanks for the reply. I knew what it would be. I was hoping that someone would say it was daft to jump in so soon. I only noticed it at the weekend

Hopefully nothing but this is a physical exam appt - 100%.

Definitely best to get checked - always.

However, breasts change over a month depending on different hormone levels etc.
and there are many, many things lumps and bumps can be without being nasty. Put your mind at rest by getting checked but try to stay positive in the meantime too.x

I know it’s scary but honestly you will likely be reassured by a trained medical professional and leave feeling SO much better. And god forbid but IF (and it’s a big if) it was something more sinister, the sooner that’s caught the better.
I had to go to A&E to get some moles checked and it was very very reassuring - nerve wrecking but glad I went.
Good luck x

Ps. I often get weird things around the time of my period, so you’re not alone. But definitely let them make the call of where to go from here.

Good luck Op, I’m sure all will be fine.

Oops just realised you’ve already been - how did it go? Don’t let it panic you if you’re referred, I was, it just means they want the experts to look rather than give you the wrong answers.

How are you doing OP? I saw my GP 2wks ago for sus breast issues so I can absolutely empathise with your fears.
