I have a neighbour who really, really wants to help, and has just added half an hour to my car loading this morning. It’s really kind, and he’s got to be nearly 80, but ggrrrrrrr!
I was putting a single futon base into my (admittedly small) car. It was always going to take a bit of ingenuity brute force but it was going fine, I’d just got the doors closed, when he saw me and rushed round to help. He opened the door, put the mattress in on top, discovered the door wouldn’t shut any more, pulled the mattress out again somehow shifting the wooden base so that it was a) wedged tight, and b) sticking out preventing the door closing.
I had to crawl in with a screwdriver and remove a section of the base, to release it all and be able to shut the door. With an audience of him shaking his head and mumbling that it would never have happened “if I’d put the seats down better”.
He is very kind. He’s nearly 80. I muttered this to myself A LOT while finally delivering the fecking futon. Anyone else got super-helpful neighbours?!
