Looking for a new motor.
Torn between those in the title.
We have 3 kids.
We would want to tow a caravan too.
Any recommendations?!?

I looked at the XC60 but opted for the XC90 as it was larger and had plenty boot space for the dogs and to take extra stuff if we’re touring for 2/3 weeks at a time. If you’re going to be towing remember and check the towing capacity and tow weight limit. I think the Kuga is lower than the Volvo too so that maybe something to keep in mind. I absolutely love my Volvo, especially in winter and feel really safe in it.

We had a kuga when we lived abroad in a rugged sort of place (not recently though). It was surprisingly good. DS1 has a big Mazda, not sure if that’s the same one as you’re looking at and he likes it a lot.

Had the volvo as a rental car and it was great, DH wanted to buy one but we’re not in the market for a new car but he was banging on about it so much that SIL who we were away with has now bought one and likes it too. SIL has 3 kids too but all out of car seats, if you need to fit 3 big car seats it might be a struggle. Friends have the Mazda and were nice enough to do lifts from a wedding recently and it’s tiny inside, obviously wasn’t ungrateful for the lift but the middle seat I got stuck with was mini so I wouldn’t buy one if you need to fit 3 in the back.

We just bought the Volvo XC60. Number 3 is due in 3 weeks.
It fits all our car seats, we have a soon to be 3 year old and 5 year old and will have the baby.
Won't have it until January now so it's going to be pain fitting everyone into our Kia but we will fit if I sit in the back when we are all in the car.

Ford kugas are good tow cars. I very nearly got one but decided for a lower estate.

MsMiaWallace · 19/09/2022 13:20

I love the look of them all!

I had a Kuga for a few weeks as a hire car. Loved it with the exception of the inbuilt sat nav which I could not get to grips with at all

Sugarplumfairy65 · 19/09/2022 14:24

I had the xc60 until recently and only changed it because I needed a WAV.
It was a great car, felt very safe, loads of boot space and can pull a caravan with ease. The heated seats were very welcome in the winter

Beebumble2 · 19/09/2022 14:39

We’ve just been through these choices and bought a new Kuga Titanium, better than the previous Kuga models.
Our previous car was a LandRover and surprisingly we love the Kuga. The boot space seems better.

MsMiaWallace · 19/09/2022 14:51

We've currently got a Land Rover. Every time we try to tow it spits it's dummy out & goes into limp mode.

We wanted an xc60 and ended up with an xc90 instead Wink
We had a Land Rover before that got stolen so I won't recommend that again!

bez91 · 19/09/2022 14:58

If you are considering these options I'd also look at the Skoda Kodiaq. Most can tow and ample room for 3 kids!

BertiesShoes · 19/09/2022 15:42

We have a 6 year old Kuga and tow a caravan with it, it is a great car, coped well with journeys to Southern France this year and 2019, 4 adults and a Labrador in the car, plus canoes and other clobber on the roof.

Qwerkie · 19/09/2022 15:44

I’ve test driven a cx5 and would buy it in a heartbeat. I don’t know about it’s towing capabilities though

MsMiaWallace · 19/09/2022 17:14

Or maybe a VW Tiguan!

Volvo hands down.

Wouldlovetobeinthesun · 19/09/2022 17:54

CX5 for me. My DB has had one for a few years and they tow their caravan almost every school holiday. We're now getting one too although we only have a camping trailer to tow!

MrsU2022 · 19/09/2022 17:59

I've always had mazdas, can't fault them at all. Brilliant cars. We've just got a cx30 which is a bit smaller than the cx5 and it's beautiful!

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 19/09/2022 18:00

We've got the CX30 which is the next one down from the CX5. I love it and if the CX5 is anywhere near as good it'll be a brilliant car

gogohmm · 19/09/2022 18:14

Mazdas are great though I have a different model so can't comment on that particular one. Very reliable too
