It's another passport, how long one

I've had enough of everything so we've cancelled Christmas and DD and I are hoping to go to the Canary Islands.

Her passport expired in June, it's her second child one and looks like I can renew online.

Official website says 10 weeks, which is cutting it fine for us.

Don't know whether to risk it or just say fuck it and go passport office for £100 🙄

I guess I'm looking for recent turn around experiences.

Thank you in advance if you're up!

Could you book a 1 week fast track appointment OP?
I know it's more expensive but definitely worth it to guarantee it arrives in time. No stress on the run up to the holiday if your passport is back.

Kerrrmieee · 19/09/2022 01:55

I could and I think it's the sensible option @DobbyHP

I'd be applying online and even with photo booth code, you don't know if they'll accept it.

Yep am going to take the hit, it's worth it not to gamble the whole thing.

I just wanted someone to say their turnaround was 7 days 🤣

And I'm only an hour away from nearest office.

I shall not be an idiot and do that. Otherwise DD will be spending Christmas alone 😉🤣

My child's first passport recently came in just over three weeks.

WhoAteAllTheDinosaurs · 19/09/2022 07:36

Just renewed my daughter's. Took about 2 weeks start to finish.

Kerrrmieee · 21/09/2022 10:20

Thank you @WhoAteAllTheDinosaurs and @Clevs . It would be a renewal which if I'm correct you can do online now, so we'd get official photo booth photo to make sure.

Hmm I'll make a decision soon. I'll have to otherwise will be fast tracking!!

My renewal was approved 3 days after they received it, and that included a name change.

My sons renewal took 8 weeks, also included a name change.

WhoAteAllTheDinosaurs · 21/09/2022 10:23

Yes, we did it online. The other tip is you have to wait for their identity to be verified (online) by someone else before you can send their passport off, so pick someone reliable who will do it straight away!

PuttingDownRoots · 21/09/2022 10:26

To reassure you for online system, it gives you the liklihood of the photo being accepted when you upload it. My DD had a photo rejected, but we uploaded another one within two hours and it was accepted 30mins later. Her passport came in the same delivery as her sisters whose photo had gone straight through.

The unofficial passport tracker says 33 days for child renewal currently

Applied on 07 August. Had issues with getting my forenames to match that of my other passport. Had to extra documentation But HMPO were still fast. Got my new passport back on 10 sep.

Kerrrmieee · 21/09/2022 10:42

Thanks both, that's good.

I'd go to a photo booth one for a code I think. I can't even take a decent picture of the cat in focus!

DD has no other documents other than birth cert. Sons name was changed by deed poll so that's always a joy...

I'll get on it today.

How did you get on OP?

BertaHoon · 28/09/2022 21:25

Hi @TwoProngedFork I got whiff of the royal mail strike, so I'm going to fast track in October.

I'm glad now, I didn't realise it was going to be 19 days - my blood pressure couldn't cope with that 🤣

BertaHoon · 28/09/2022 21:26

Oops name change fail.

An indication of why I'd never get a passport renewal off on time 🤣

CaptainSamCarter · 28/09/2022 22:01

I did mine and the kids at the beginning of September. Mine took a week, DD's took two weeks and DS's arrived today.

TwoProngedFork · 02/10/2022 11:49

Splendid 🥰🥰🥰

How long after they accepted the photo did the passports arrive?
