Good Morning Mumsnet! What's everyone doing today?

I've just made my second coffee of the morning & am going to enjoy it in peace. I've been watching the breeze blow through the big sycamore at the end of my garden; it makes a lovely sound.

I'll nip up & get dressed/get the girls up when I've drunk my drink. I want to do the usual Sunday stuff first (ironing, towel wash, make sure homework's done) and then we need to nip to the small Asda for something for the next 3 days' tea. I have no idea yet what we'll get so should invest some brain power in a small list really 🤷‍♀️

When we get back, I'll have an hour or so at a bit of Rainbows and Guides prep for Tuesday, then either carry on painting Elmer the elephant squares onto a babygrow, or with the cardigan I'm crocheting for myself. Probably Elmer since it's needed by Friday.

The girls will probably spend more time snuggled up in dd1's room, if they have no homework to do. If they do have homework then that'll be done first.

Whatever we have for tea will be followed by fruit and ice cream 😋

What about all of you? 🙂

I'm not very well so probably lie quietly on the sofa in my oodie while I let both DSs game to their hearts content. Blush
They do have homework to do so probably do that at some point too. Feel awful as it's not exactly fun for DSs but they're still quiet tired from school anyway.

Tacocatgoatcheesepizza · 18/09/2022 09:08

Dh will be gone all day - he’s in the line to see the Queen.

I am still in bed but should be getting up right now! Taking the dc swimming in an hour although they will moan like hell about it….. may go bowling this afternoon, if not we will probably just chill. I have a bit of work admin to do and dc both need to do their homework.

Tea is undecided as normally dh does a roast on Sundays!

HangingOver · 18/09/2022 09:10

Woke up with a cold Sad making breakfast for my Dad later then he's going home (been staying a week). Clean out the pets but otherwise slob about and do some easy work.

Got up early and had a coffee with my dad, who was supposed to have a flight connection last night at the airport near us but missed it because of delays, so we had him unexpectedly overnight. Then sent him off in a cab for his rebooked connection. Kids joined us and we had a lovely breakfast all together while DH had a lie in and the kids and I played Dragonwood.

Today will be washing, music practice and 11+ practice with the kids, a run for me, brunch, then DH taking the kids to the cinema at 3pm to see that Agatha Christie spoof while I stay home listening to podcasts and making aubergine parmigiana for a potluck dinner tonight with our neighbours.

Tempting fate to say it's a perfect day. Watch someone throw a wobbly and ruin it Hmm

pictish · 18/09/2022 09:13

We are getting the teens out on bikes. I’ve been laid low with a truly rotten, snotty cold for two days and a friendly cycle is just what I need to emerge back into the world. About to go for a shower.

AmongstTheCosmos · 18/09/2022 09:16

I'm having a coffee brought to me in bed by dh. I'm going to get in the shower in a minute then we're going for a long walk followed by a pub lunch. We'll probably watch a film later on when we get home.

AllThatAndMore · 18/09/2022 09:17

I had a horrible night sleep ( 5 hours ) but I’m trying to stay positive . The kids ( 3 year old and a 1 year old ) and I are watching tv and I’m drinking my second cup of coffee. We are letting my husband sleep in today because he’s taking the kids all day tomorrow to give me a day off .

Later we are heading out to an event in a couple hours at a local park, then swimming lessons, then off to a local zoo/adventure park. A jam packed day so I don’t mind a lazy morning in front of the tv .

erikbloodaxe · 18/09/2022 09:22

I should have shopped for food yesterday but was ill in bed then ended my marriage and fell asleep.

Feel better today so I'll get ready soon and then go to Tesco. Need to do my laundry and some baking and make a roast. That is enough for today I think.

AndTwoFilmsByFrancoisTruffaut · 18/09/2022 09:23

DH just bought me a coffee and we’re taking the dogs to the woods in a minute. We’ve got a pub lunch booked as no work tomorrow so looking forward to that.

I’m 34 weeks pregnant so going to put my changing caddy’s together (one upstairs one downstairs) oddly looking forward to that, I guess that’s my ‘nesting’ instinct kicking in 🤷🏻‍♀️

Then I’ll probably spend the afternoon on the sofa complaining my bump’s uncomfortable cos I’ve eaten too much 🐷

Have a lovely Sunday everyone

violetcuriosity · 18/09/2022 09:27

Finally plucking up the courage to start sorting out the room that's going to be the nursery. Had a scan at 18 weeks yesterday and baby girl seems to be growing nicely. It's such a state in there (been storage since we moved in) that we do need to start clearing it before I get bigger. Then I'm going to put a sausage casserole in the slow cooker and snuggle with DD7 on the sofa and watch the next Harry Potter on the list

RiftGibbon · 18/09/2022 09:27

DH is working. DC has homework to do, so I'll keep an eye on the content and output. (DC has just started senior school)

Need to change the bedsheets so might do some washing as the sun is out.
Making an apple crumble
Listening to some music
Hoovering
Cleaning the bathroom and changing towels
Phoning a friend for a catch up

CormoranStrike · 18/09/2022 09:30

Housework, lunch with friends, packing!

TheOldLadyOfThreadneedleStreet · 18/09/2022 09:33

Busy today, we need to pack everything up for my DS to go back to uni next week. Also clean out the guinea pigs thoroughly. And I’m cooking a more than usually elaborate tea for DS, his choice, as this is his last Sunday at home until Christmas. Hopefully I’ll get an hour for a walk by the canal too and it wouldn’t hurt to log onto my work laptop and check out emails….

EsmeeMerlin · 18/09/2022 09:36

Not an awful lot. Both my children have their first cold of the academic year and I didn't sleep particularly well. We usually attend church and then go into town but will skip that today so I have some housework to do and some training for work to complete. We watched Home Alone yesterday so they want to watch the second this afternoon so we will put that on and I'll go the ironing of the school uniform. Pretty typical boring Sunday a home.

TooMuchToDoTooLittleInclination · 18/09/2022 09:41

Send coffee which should help!!

(been awake since 5, up since 6)

second load of washing on the line. It's about 8° here (SE Eng) but sunny, all doors & windows are open & a lovely sunny breeze is swirling around the house.

the pigeons are 'cooing' very loudly & making some other noise that sounds like arguing about which parent us going out for food?!

I'm going to hoover at 10 then I'll have a shower & go to the shops to collect some bits I got my god daughter who is off to Uni next weekend & I'm going to leap off the low carb wagon & have a Starbucks pumpkin latte & a marmite & cheese toasted thingy.

then drop into my god daughter with a card & gifts 🎁 and wish her well on her new adventure!

Depending on what time I get home I might tackle the spare room that's a storage room but has this past two weeks become a dumping ground 🤬

the excitement is killing me 😂

gingercat02 · 18/09/2022 09:42

Morning Lucysmam. I'm slightly hung over after yesterday's cocktails but had a lovely time with an old friend.
DH has taken DS to his football match so I watching Saturday Kitchen best bites and drinking coffee.
DS is out with friends later so DH and I have a free afternoon. No plans but probably a walk somewhere.
Spaghetti Bolognese for tea. Keeping the roast for tomorrow as it's a bank holiday and we are all off.

TooMuchToDoTooLittleInclination · 18/09/2022 09:42

Bloody phone! Second coffee, I'm not asking you all to send coffee 😂😂

I hope you are feeling OK FlowersFlowers try not to do too much today.

I need to shop for my elderly mum as we will watch the funeral with her tomorrow.

SeptemberSon · 18/09/2022 09:47

Enjoying my lie in while DH and DS play Minecraft downstairs. Then we're going on a local bear hunt with our neighbours and their girls. DS is excited to have someone else to play with! Ham hock Mac & cheese for tea, and the latest episode of Bad Sisters.

bluetongue · 18/09/2022 09:56

I’m in a bit of ‘get healthy’ drive so went to a national park on the other side of town. No dogs allowed which is a bit of a shame but there was a waterfall and koalas (hence the no dogs rule) so it was worth it 😁

Love these threads so cosy.

Quiet cosy day planned here we are all a bit snuffly etc so just a pottering morning DC doing homework , reading, playing etc. Food shop just arrived so putting that away and doing uniform wash, it's a windy day so will get it on the line.

Much needed walk in the woods later then home for a slow cooker casserole. Bath and early night I hope possibly with a hot toddy and I want to finish my book!

erikbloodaxe · 18/09/2022 10:11

@bare bless you and thank you.

I'm fine I think the stress of everything made me ill tbh. A weight has been lifted so onwards and upwards.

sendwineandastraw · 18/09/2022 10:20

DH has very kindly taken the girls over to give the ponies breakfast and bring them in, and then middle DD is going riding, so I’m currently lazing about in bed drinking a big mug of tea.

We need to nip to Tesco and pick up supplies for the next couple of days, still deciding on what to have for tomorrow, DH suggested left over spag Bol but that isn’t very British or regal!!

I desperately need to sort our bedroom which has been taken over with everyone else’s stuff so that’s on the cards and then maybe a mandatory family movie while roast pork and all the trimmings…

Oh and the most exciting part of the day is DH is going to make his famous spiced pear tart Tatin!!!

Simonjt · 18/09/2022 14:38

I did some more marathon training this morning, I drank a bit too much last night, that combined with a caffiene gel led to a very unfortunate paula radcliffe moment.

We went out for breakfast this morning, I tried facon for the first time and it was actually nice, although I’ve never tried actual bacon, so no idea if it tastes anything like it.

Grandma is babysitting both of the smalls overnight tonight as our little holiday home is near her house. So if that goes well we’ll have a little date night and get in our mumsnet favourite, the sex pond. As we’re exciting individuals we’re going to have a sudoku competition later.

mackthepony · 18/09/2022 14:41

Raining here so an easy day. Thankfully! It hasn't rained in a while.

Quick inventory of the fridge to make sure there's stuff for the kids lunches.

Teach DS how to play dominos with cards.

Check that DS has done his homework.

Not sure about dinner - chilli and rice probably.
