Cordless vacuum recommendations please!

My Dyson cordless has just died on me after many years service. I need to get a new one but was thinking about switching brands. Has anyone got a Shark? I was thinking of this one:

Any recommendations gratefully received.

I bought a shark last year - absolutely hate it . I've just bought a Dyson last week and the difference is amazing !

creampuffs · 16/09/2022 08:40

Yes, I have the model you linked to and I love it. Had a dyson before but never again! The dyson always clogged with hair, and I swear I spat out more grit than it picked up! The shark is excellent. Plus the anti hair wrap really works.

Our Dyson was amazing for the first year good for the second year and awful after that. It kept going into pulse mode because all the dirt blocked it up.

Went for a simple corded and bagged vacuum after that and will not go back.

Thanks for this feedback. I decided to go for the Shark after reading/watching lots of reviews! My Dyson V7 I’ve had for about 5 years and in that time the battery went which I replaced and brush bar has stopped working twice. I’m not keen to keep replacing the components given how costly they are. At least the Shark has a 5 year warranty. I can’t manage a corded vacuum because of disabilities and I have two staircases in my house.

We , foolishly, bought another Shark purely for the anti hair wrap feature.
It's barely six months old and we've twice had to speak to their technicians. Once regarding the rollers not rolling and once about a very high pitched 'squealing.'

The squealing problem couldn't be resolved despite being talked through all the trouble shooting.
They sent a replacement head but it doesn't work at all well.

Never again.

If anyone can recommend something to deal with long dog hair I'd be grateful.

Hope you'll get more knowledgeable posts, OP.

I do get fed up with cordless vacuums

Had a Dyson but didn't like the way you had to keep your finger on the switch

We have a Bosch which has a switch but it isn't great as it cuts out and doesn't pick up that well

Like my new AEG corded vacuum much better

I have a v7 also and am looking for a new cordless . Also can't use a corded as have a bad back.

Can you update when you get the new shark please op?

Yes of course I will. I think all the cordless vacuums have issues. It’s a matter of finding one that has the least amount of issues!

Great thank you. Yes I agree. The V7 is good I think I use it downstairs which is hard floors and rugs. And it much better that using a brush and it is so much quicker than getting the 'big hoover' out. I zip round most days.

Just feel it's a bit tired now and the newer ones are better.

Roselilly36 · 16/09/2022 18:55

I have the shark duo clean with anti hair wrap, the pet version. Really pleased with it, much better than the Gtech air ram, which was my first cordless vacuum.

BerriesOnTop · 16/09/2022 18:58

I have a Xiaomi I quite like it

garlicandsapphires · 16/09/2022 19:02

I hate my shark and it was so expensive

catinboots123 · 16/09/2022 19:03

Yeah don't buy a Shark. I was sucked in by all the love for it on Insta.

It's a cloggy fucker that can't stand up straight. Hate hate hate it. But I begged DH for it now can't back down 😀

StikeandRobin · 16/09/2022 19:04

I love my Vax blade. The only complaint I have is that I find it difficult to twist the dust compartment back on after emptying. Performance wise it’s brilliant.

toooldtodate · 16/09/2022 19:05

I've just had to replace my v8 battery - didn't realise they only last about 12 months - at £70 a pop I'm pretty annoyed and wish I could get another machine instead - also had the ability lying pulse things and gone through 2 filters in 2 years. but seems like the shark doesn't have great reviews either OP!
I did look at the hoover one?

Always4Brenner · 16/09/2022 19:08

I’ve seen a cheap corded in the range like a cordless but corded that will do for me, I think no more 100s spends at least if this works a couple of years it’s only £50

Coastalcreeksider · 16/09/2022 19:13

I went back to a bagged corded vacuum and it picks up so much better, doesn't need emptying every time you use it and doesn't require the filter to be cleaned.every five minutes. It's a Sebo hospital grade had it 7 years.

Wouldn't go back to bagless ever.

AgathaX · 16/09/2022 19:14

Our Vax is really good.

Bluevelvetsofa · 16/09/2022 19:16

I’ve got a cheap as chips Beko. We don’t have pets, so I can’t comment on whether it copes with pet hair, but I like it’s flexibility and the attachments. It has lights in the front which are helpful for seeing crumbs by cupboard doors.

woodhill · 16/09/2022 19:19

To be fair the Bosch was great to start with but I think the battery life goes on most of them

JerkintheMerkin · 16/09/2022 19:24

I love my Vax Blade (the pet one) even though I don't have any pets. It was a year before I realised the brush bar could come out though Blush. Vax were really good when one of my batteries became faulty. Sent a new one straight away.
