My son has ASD and typically does not like to touch anything "dirty". In this instance actual dirt. I watched him (whilst in the shower) run up to the plant pot, grab a handful of dirt and sprinkle it all over my carpet whilst running to really spread and tred it into the carpet. Obviously it is cheeky behaviour but jeez am I proud that he has overcome touching dirt! Absolutely 😁

Ouch and how lovely!

One of our favourite stories is how my then 18 month old worked out how to get into the biscuit tin... and got two plates, put one on each and gave one plate to her sister! We were impressed by the sharing and plates.

I woke up this morning to my 3yo DS shouting up the stairs that he had made breakfast. Was expecting carnage but he actually did a really good job, including cutting grapes in to quarters with his safety knife!

But had to tell him he wasn't allowed downstairs on his own and am also upset at myself for not hearing him get up.

When DD around 20 months called me to show me her picture and it was drawn on the freshly painted white wall. She was so pleased with it 😀

Such lovely stories. You just can't get mad. Particularly when they try so hard even though it isn't what you'd like.
