YouTube Music question

I used to use Google Play and bought lots of songs on there. They've moved over to YouTube music, but I can't listen to them with the screen locked unless I buy a subscription to premium? Is that right? YT music is free but not if you want to listen whilst out and about (only time I use it is on my phone whilst walking), so is there now no benefit to having bought the songs in the first place? I even had them downloaded on my old phone with Google Play so could listen without using data :(

Looks that way.

I have Apple Music. I quite like it. I can do it completely offline too

Are you playing them from your downloads section of the app?

FuckingBUTTERbeans · 15/09/2022 17:43

I did have iTunes when I had an iPod, but started using Google Play when I got an Android phone.

@Garbytea I tried that now and it works! Thank you. So I could just subscribe for a month and download them. I did that once before but only did a few, but I didn't realise they worked with screen lock.

You can download previously owned songs from Google takeout for free it's what I did to get my old ones, couple of months ago.
