I was flicking through the channels when the ads were on the other night and QVC were telling me about these things that I didn't know existed. They then convinced me I had to have one (they're good at that but the cold light of day usually has me seeing sense). Their reviews were a bit mixed. Has anyone tried one? Are they any good?

Bootsandcat · 15/09/2022 14:29

I saw these advertised on my Facebook from a company called something must have ideas? Everything they sell is something I never thought of but have realised I desperately need in my life...

I did think my PIL would love it as they are constantly concerned about people invading their privacy. Although I have some sympathy for this, I remember once they went nuts because we were at their house and DH shouted the WiFi password through from one room to another so that I could log on. Apparently you never who might be listening outside the closed windows of their detached house in a suburban town, waiting to overhear WiFi passwords... 😄

Anyway, I'd planned to get them this for Christmas. They'll still shred everything but better safe than sorry!

MacaroniBaloney · 15/09/2022 14:45

I get mine ftom Amazon a couple of rolls across does the trick!

BIWI · 15/09/2022 14:47

I have one too, and always use it on any letters/bills that we're putting into the recycling. I can't remember how much I paid for it though - but the one you've linked to seems expensive.

borninastorm · 15/09/2022 14:47

I’ve got one I bought on Amazon. It’s great for hiding my details on letters I’m recycling.

BIWI · 15/09/2022 14:48

Much cheaper on Amazon!

HouseFullOfChaos · 15/09/2022 14:49

I have had the must have ideas version for a while now. We use it regularly. I always found it impossible to empty the shredder without getting little bits of paper everywhere, now we hardly need to shred anything. We just blank out the important parts and put it in the recycling.

abovedecknotbelow · 15/09/2022 14:49

Amazon or just get a print pad with ink

Deathraystare · 15/09/2022 16:21

Yeah I got one for me and one for my Aunt a while back from QVC. Cannot find it now. I did order a few others from Amazon. They are very very good.

I am laughing because when I went to order from Amazon I have no idea what to call them. So typed in some crap and it came up! I ordered a couple meaning to give one to a friend, but with my ability to lose stuff, one is in my room and another is in a kitchen draw!

Completely obliterates you /any address.

Deathraystare · 15/09/2022 16:22

Your address (fuck's sake) not YOU!.

Madamecastafiore · 15/09/2022 16:33

We've got one we refill. It was about £16 from Amazon. Have had people going through our bins previously and was worried about identity theft.

VanillaParkersBowl · 15/09/2022 16:50

Thank you everyone, some of your posts have made me 😁. Yes, definitely cheaper on Amazon, bloody hell!

Mine is just an Amazon one, works pretty well!

VanillaParkersBowl · 16/09/2022 07:28

Thank you, Bootsandcat.
