Why am I not losing weight?

I have maintained a steady body weight since I was 16/17, between 9 and 10 stone, I am 5 foot 3 and 45. I have several medical conditions that mean I lose mobility and quality of life if I gain weight.
Every so often - Xmas, holidays, I gain weight - maybe 4lb-8lb and I have always lost it by switching to fruit with a tablespoon of greek yog for breakfast and an apple and a banana for lunch, then a normal dinner. No wine, no snacks, no sweets. It has usually taken 1-4 weeks to be back to 'normal'. I have done this every year or so for 30 years.
I have now been on it for 4 weeks post holiday and not lost a pound. So much less food than normal but my weight has stuck.
I am not overweight as such, and I am maintaining my activity levels, but I am worried that I am eating so much less and not losing any.

Any ideas?

You are approaching menopause when your calorific needs drop ?

You may also find you are unconsciously being a bit less active especially if you don't have obvious menopause symptoms- it creeps up on you

Weight training might help

It's depressing, isn't it. I started a diet about a month ago. I'm 5' 3" and was 7.5st before kids, then 8st and then 8.5 stone for years. Somehow, that became 9stone. T Every now and again, it would go up and I'd get back down to 9st. That happened three times in the last 10-15 yrs,

Since lockdown and starting to work from home, I've been about nine and a half stone, but two weeks all inclusive saw that go up to 10st. Strict diet - I can get down to 9.5 st and then a bit of up and down, but not lower. That last half a stone isn't shifting even though I'm eating much less than I did when I was maintaining that sort of weight earlier in the year.

Try keto.

Many, many women find it harder to lose weight as they get older. It's shit. Keep at it, up your exercise and water intake and watch late night snacks and alcohol. You'll get there.

Well, about 15 years older than you, so I've had longer for my 'normal' weight to climb, but I've cut out so much this time! One meal a day with just a few pieces of fruit on my two low calorie days. Dinner is a small portion of salmon, a couple of boiled eggs or similar with salad. Drizzle of dressing.

Other days I have a cup of home made tomato soup and a small dinner. OK, glass of wine most evenings, but that's it.

I used to have coffee with a piece of cake mid morning or a banana and fruit smoothie. Piece of toast maybe. Or a sandwich. I used to have some mints while I was online working. Bigger dinner - lasagne, a piece of pie ... maybe afters.

I've never eaten big portions and I don't eat junk food, but I was obviously eating too much. Now I'm not and I feel I should be rewarded!
