Lying in state accessible queue.

Does anyone know what sort of proof you might need to access the accessible queue for the Queen?

I have a letter from my consultant that states I can't queue for long periods of time that I was issued with last year.

I can't find anything in the government website.

I wondered this as well. We are not going but I did wonder whether we would qualify as we are disabled but not enough for blue badge quite yet. I hope you can find the answer.

I did wonder about this when I heard it on the TV yesterday. I thought surely you'd need some sort of proof that you are genuinely disabled? Otherwise,I could envisage scenes like those reported at Heathrow airport a couple of months ago, when the queueing times were hours long. Apparently, some people were faking disabilities and turning up in wheelchairs and on crutches in order to be given queue priority. This sort of behaviour makes me angry because it causes genuinely disabled people to be viewed with suspicion.

There's another thread on this with tons of info - a poster actually went to ask in person and was told they're quite flexible about type of proof, basically anything plausible.

Thanks @GrumpyPanda

My friend is going to sneak into this queue with someone she knows, who does have genuine issues. I hope she gets sent right to the back.

Sorry? Are people with disabilities not allowed to have a friend or carer with them? Would you like to wait in a queue alone? Particularly when going to pay your respects to someone who has died.

Toddlerteaplease · 14/09/2022 22:47

Yes of course they are. But my friend is going along specifically to jump the queue. Not as a carer!

Bangkokbaby · 15/09/2022 07:55

But if her friend doesn't have an issue with it, then I don't see the problem. Your friend will be there to keep her company in the queue. Why should she have to queue alone just because she has a disability. Regardless of your friends motives.

HappySonHappyMum · 15/09/2022 13:30

There are no checks in the accessible queue - I went last night, it is all done on trust. You are allowed to take a carer with you. BUT if you are the type of selfish person that is happy to pretend you are disabled and wait with genuinely deserving people in wheelchairs, with mobility issues, autism and the many other physical disabilities I witnessed last night you need to give your head a wobble.

I am foingbthis evening my partner is disabled we was going to join accessible que but we have our two kids isbthat allowed does anyone know

Adultchildofelderlyparents · 16/09/2022 10:13

Parents went this morning, queued for over an hour and got a time slot for 6pm this evening. I suggest if you want to go, that you go today.
It's two people allowed - the person who needs the accessibility plus one companion.
No proof of accessibility needed.

Does being diabetic type 1 qualify???
x

Adultchildofelderlyparents · 16/09/2022 22:48

It's for anyone who is unable to queue for the extended periods that the main queue takes. Yes I would say your diabetes qualifies as it would be difficult to manage that through a 12-hour outdoor queue.
A lot of people are referring to it as the disabled queue and complaining that non-disabled people are taking up places, but it's not just for disabled people, it's for anyone unable to manage the queue.
I hear it's closed for today but you might be lucky if you go very early tomorrow.
