If you meet a celebrity what do you say?

So my work place has a thing for trying to get celebrities to work events. The celebrities are not the most famous of people. I don't really get it. There are loads of famous people who I'm impressed by but I can't imagine what I would say if if I was introduced to one. I think I'd find it a really embarrassing situation. The kind of celebrity my work invites tend to be people I have never even heard of. So if you have met a celebrity and had a proper conversation what did you talk about?

Meet you like anyone else you would be introduced to?

How about "hello, nice to meet you" (assuming it is).

I enjoyed your latest book/play/gig

Maybe something along the lines of 'I think the work you do for xxxxxx charity is great' if appropriate.

I would start with 'hello' and go from there. If you've never heard of them that should make it easier.

There's a line in Love Story (the book) that I always think of.
"The difference between a friend and a fan is that with the latter you quickly run out of conversation".

I spotted a really famous actor doing shopping in our local market. Think Harry Potter villain. I told them that I thought they were remarkable. To my horror they were hugely embarrassed and went bright red. I felt devastated for ages with my big mouth.
