Do you eat "special" mushrooms and do they help with anything?

I saw an advert for mushroom capsules which promise glorious health benefits. Having googled I see that you can just eat them like normal mushrooms and they are available in health food shops etc. But do mushroom supplements make any difference to energy levels / anxiety etc. If you eat them tell me more.

I’ve only heard about lions mane mushrooms, they do seem to have benefits but are expensive so, although I considered it, I can’t justify the cost of the supplements and I think, with the taste of lobster & crab, I’d rather supplements than fresh tbh

When you put “special” I thought you meant magic mushrooms that some stoner college friends used to pick & eat 🤣

I got some special mushroom coffee.... Do you mean psychedelic special or shiitake special?

Feathersandothers · 14/09/2022 18:14

I’m interested in this too, placemarking!

Depends what kind of mushrooms you mean OP

Do ones from Waitrose count?

kimchifox · 14/09/2022 20:52

Haha - no not THAT special although I was interested to see separately that psychotherapists can now specialise in hallucinogenic compounds but that's another thread.

I mean Reishi mushrooms which I think may be the same as Lions Mane?

That is weird! But do they work?! I'm periodically struggling with a bit of anxiety and DH is having trouble sleeping so when I saw the advert it got me wondering.

Oh that is interesting. I don't really understand micro dosing so will Google that as well. I'm glad you are feeling better. X

I thought you meant the other type of “special mushroom” 😉
