Covid LFT Tests

Are these still picking up Covid? DD has Covid - tested positive on LFT. We live in a flat, no where to isolate and so we're living normally and she hasn't isolated from me. I feel awful, exhausted, sore throat, cough, headache and no appetite at all. I'm testing negative on LFT though (for 3 days!).
We're staying home anyway, I feel rubbish and DD is getting better now after a fever for a day but is still coughing. I find it weird that I'm testing negative though.
This is our first time having Covid, no experience with it so don't know if I do have it or if I've got some other bug.
Can I have Covid if testing negative on LFT?

Yes, I know a whole family of 6 who, apart from one child, never tested positive on LFT. They were all really ill and did PCR tests (when they were a thing) and every one of them was positive.

I hope you feel better soon.

Thank you, I feel like I must have it. I know it doesn't really matter either way I suppose, just seems strange that I keep testing negative on LFT's (which are from back when they were free but still in date).

Yeah they’re not super reliable. I’ve just had COVID and my symptoms were like yours, so all things considered that’s probably what you have.
But in any case I’m not sure what difference it makes: just stay in and away from others if you’re ill, regardless of what it is.

Hope you feel better soon.

Mine picked up for twelve days! Most people in work recently have tested maybe the couple of days after symptoms. Mine was same evening. NHS so have to be negative.

Thanks all. After a horrible night I have tested again this morning and the positive line came up straight away.

Feel like it's day 3 of symptoms but it's definitely a lot worse now so maybe I didn't have enough infection before to show up.
