lump on neck

autumn124 · 14/09/2022 09:33

I've woken up with quite a firm lump/mass on my neck, just under my left ear. Went to doctors just now and she's referred me for an ultrasound at the hospital, said it would be roughly two weeks. She also took bloods and did my blood pressure (slightly high)
I feel ok in myself, but worried as lump might equal cancer, right? Has anyone had this? I'm worried sick.

Your GP will be testing for lots of conditions including an infection. An ultasound is also normal. Try not to worry.

Thanks, I'm going to try not to worry too much. I'm scared of the C word and it doesn't help that several people I know have had or are having treatment for it, so my brain went into immediate overthink overdrive mode!

Lumps behind your ear can be glands. Obviously always get it checked out, which you already are doing. It might just be happening if you had colds lately, so not necessarily something terrible. I hope you get answers soon.

That's one of those things that could be so many different things that you have as much of a chance of it being nothing as of it being being. But you are doing the right thing by checking it out

I know someone this happened to and it was a recurrence of cancer. I know that isnt what you want to hear but you've asked so guessing you want to explore all eventualities.

Have you noticed any other changes in your body? Aches and pains, bleeding, loss of appertite, weight change?

Might be worth thinking about in case you get asked by the doctor.

Hopefully there will be an innocent explaination though, will keep my fingers crossed for you.
