Where could I move to?

My relationship is over. I can't afford to live on my own where I am, and I don't have strong roots anywhere. I am fortunate to work remotely, but I do have to go to London a few times a year. Any suggestions?
Budget up to £1000 a month but preferably less. (depends on council tax, water bill etc.)
2 bed house or bungalow with garden (not courtyard.) I prefer older cottages not modern estates.
In or or close to rural. But also within 30 mins of somewhere with a good cultural life, creative people, book club, museum, theatre, that type of thing.

Community that would be friendly to an incomer, pub I could go to on my own, groups, meet ups etc, so I can make new friends.
I have a couple of ideas but I'd love more suggestions.

If you can stretch 30 mins for culture to 60, then Holmfirth ticks all your boxes, with Sheffield (45 min), Manchester (an hour) and Leeds (an hour) for big museums, concert halls, shops, gigs etc, although lots of small scale stuff locally (check out the Holmfirth Picturedome for gigs, art/film/French/food/folk festivals in H'firth) and nearer (Wakefield has the Hepworth Gallery and the Yorkshire Sculpture Park; Huddersfield Lawrence Batley theatre, Caribbean festival).

Thank you, that sounds like somewhere worth checking out. I love Leeds, so great idea to look around there. Holmfirth sounds interesting.
