Choosing kids golf clubs- help!

DS age 8 is inexplicably interested in golf, despite his dad and I not having a clue about it. He went to a summer camp and he's shortly starting some after school group lessons. Most of the other kids at the camp had their own set of clubs in a stand bag so I think it would be nice if he had his own set now too. However I am utterly baffled about what set to get. Decathlon, Slazenger, USA kids, Ben Sayers, Mkids? Can anyone offer any advice? He's fairly tall, will measure him when he's home but wears 9-10 in most clothes. I have not got a clue what I should be looking for! Obviously he's a beginner so doesn't need anything fancy but at the same time I don't want to buy something rubbish. Second hand would be fine by the way, I'm keeping an eye out, but I haven't seen anything promising in his size particularly near us right now.

Go to the local golf club and ask the pro

Thanks, I know they will obviously know their stuff but I thought they might only recommend something expensive that they sell in the shop.

You're after advice and they should give you good advice. A golf club pro is seeing the long-term investment.
Golf is an expensive sport. Not just golf clubs but shoes, gloves, putter, bag, balls, umbrella, outdoor clothing, lessons and has its own fashion.
Where better to get good advice on a youngster wanting to start off in a sport that could be a lifelong activity than with a professional.
