Just to agree with a few mispronounciations, I was much older than I should have been before I knew how things like Yosemite, epitome and Arkansas were pronounced.

Also Persephone, although my mum explained that one to me while I was still primary school age.

It was pretty (and dangerously) late in the day when I realised:

You dont throw water on an electrical fire

You dont stick a knife in a toaster

For ages I thought fatigue was pronounced fatty-goo.

I also didn't realise that when you eat oysters they are actually still alive
