Having seen various news articles the past few days, it's really struck me how lovely and empathetic Sophie - Countess of Wessex appears.
There's been some really poignant photos of her comforting members of her family and she just seems to have compassion.

she seems really nice.

She does seem very nice.

She’s worked hard after a bit of a rocky start.

Sophie, Kate, and Princess Charlotte are my three favourite Royals. Charlotte is such a sass pot, I love it.

Sophie is lovely. I also like Lady Louise, I think she will be a great asset the royal family in the future.

She’s lovely. I’d like her to be bumped up onto the A list.

Also, whilst I’m in a generous mood, extend Harry an olive branch and tell him he can live over there, but pop back to help out a bit, so long as he starts acting with discretion.

There was some dodgy stuff several years ago (just search her name + corruption) but history is being re-written and all forgotten and forgiven. I read that Andrew is making a comeback as well.

Randomword6 · 12/09/2022 10:57

Mazher Mahmood really liked her too.

Yes she does seem very pleasant. I remember hearing her speak after Prince Philip died and thought she seemed so natural and kind. However, I do find it strange how we gush over royals (and other famous people) if ever they seem remotely nice. Just look around you - there are lovely, kind people everywhere, some of whom live very difficult lives, some of whom sacrifice their own happiness to look after others. People rarely mention the good in normal people, the unsung heroes, yet will go in to raptures over someone who is royal and seems to have normal human qualities such as compassion. After Charles gave a speech recently he mentioned his brothers and sisters and the commentators were saying "He is such a remarkable person in that he's able to care about the big issues like climate change yet also care about smaller things such as his family." I mean WTF?! I also care about about climate change and my family? Am I remarkable too?! No I'm just a normal person and normal people are kind, compassionate and caring - and also have plenty of flaws.
Rant over

These people who have never made an error in their lives - must be amazing!

I made a fair few poor judgments in my earlier years - fortunately for me, the press aren't interested, so I don't get them continually thrown in my face.

And here we go…

I know someone who worked with her. They told me she is really kind and empathetic in real life. She is down to earth and doesn't have any airs or graces. She loves her family and does her best for everyone around her.

Elderflower14 · 12/09/2022 11:33

Ds2 has met her three times and says she is lovely. She was the royal patron of the deaf school he attended before it closed. The last time he had won a competition to name the new leisure centre and I was invited to watch him being presented. She spent quite some time speaking to him. ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺

Randomword6 · 12/09/2022 15:29

She insulted the Queen and offered access to the Royals. I don't think you are being loyal to support her.

You would get them continually thrown in your face if you were perceived as a threat to the status quo though.

So the short answer @Comeintomylife9 is that no, it seems we can't have a nice thread about Sophie Countess of Wessex.

Randomword6 · 12/09/2022 15:39

Maybe an honest one?

It was Fergie that was trying to sell access. Sophie’s business partner claimed he could access Edward - Sophie herself didn’t sell access.

And she called the Queen an “old dear” - hardly insulting.

she did however insult Cherie Blair and William Hague.

Haudyourwheesht · 12/09/2022 15:43

Loyalty is a tricky thing to achieve according to the self-appointed overlords of Mumsnet. Almost any comment will be construed as being 'disrespectful' 'disloyal' 'not in keeping' or, at its most extreme, 'vile'. It must be hard work being the Royal Funeral Moral Compass. But someone has to do it and you're doing it well.

JustLyra · 12/09/2022 15:45

She is lovely. She visited the NICU my youngest DD was in.
