Squeaky Floor boards driving me insane

Macey78 · 12/09/2022 00:19

Had bedroom floors done a year ago stripped filled and varnished. Looked amazing there were a couple of boards that made a slight squeak/creak however this has got worse now and is driving me potty. Anyone managed to fix this themselves or had anyone come into fix it. What needs doing and how much would it cost. We are in north east London, any help appreciated.

if they’re actual floorboards, I think it’s usually the noise of a floorboard rubbing against a nail.

Can you locate the squeak and see if it’s near a nail?

If you can, and it is, I’d be popping another nail down very close to the first (put, then I know where the pipes run under my floorboards, so no danger of piercing one).

Thanks Halstead - sounds more like they weren't nailed down correctly in the first place.

Put talc on the sqeaky gaps and nails.

I think over time, the wood gives slightly which leaves a little gap between wood and nail, allowing it to rub and squeak.

Hope you get it sorted.
