Chiropractors - what to expect?

I'm thinking of booking a chiropractor for a series of treatments. I have bad lower back/ hip pain and scapula pain. Massages done do much... However I'm overweight and worried a chiropractor will not really be able to help. Dress size 18 for reference...
What are your experiences? What do you go for? Is a chiropractor the right professional for me to visit do you think?

I have had much better success with an osteopath, and even then it was a better outcome with the osteopath that did more gentle stretching / manipulation than the one that did crunching (which I thought was more of a chiropractor thing). My series of 6 chiropractor appts didn’t do anything for me. Good luck and hope you get sorted :)

Ah funnily enough I hadn't considered an osteopath.. now I'm confused 😂

I've been seeing mine for 10 years with some short gaps. They are because I thought it was too expensive but I would always have a bad episode and relapse. I've learnt my lesson now and go once a month and will do until I die. You will hear various different opinions but it works for me. He will adjust you, you will feel a bit of a crack, some discomfort maybe but I'm so used to it that it's hard for me to describe. I don't think your size will make any difference. I wouldn't necessarily see it as a quick fix though.

I've been to osteopaths and chiropractors. Experience varied.

Twice I've had to be in my underwear and they did a series of manipulations around my pelvis, back and legs. They made me bend over multiple times to check my spine.

The other time I was with a male osteopath and that was in leggings and sports bra. Again they do get quite close. I wouldnt use a male again I feel more comfortable with a woman.

Osteopath every time.

Not sure why I said "he", think it's just because mine is male!

I would pick a physio any time
Mine refused to treat me, referred me for an MRI and spotted I needed immediate surgery

Wouldn't use either. I am totally cynical and it smacks of alternative baloney to me.

I’ve never used a chiropractor. I have however used an osteopath several times and they’ve fixed the issue every single time.

Another vote for an osteopath over a chiropractor.
