Have a nearly 5 year old with my ex. We split before he was 2. My ex works shifts so contact was sporadic. One Christmas he saw him for 2 hours because he was looking after his mates dog. Seriously. He regularly hasn't stayed in his dad's for 6 weeks a time just to put you in the picture. Anyway ex has now met someone and is super dad. We've agreed to him having child 2 night a week so pick up/ drop off at school. Weekends are still an issue but I think I'll get one every 3 to 4 weeks.
So the issue is since seeing him more my son is getting distressed asking for his dad all the time. I don't really know how to respond. I try to jolly him along and say you'll see daddy on x day but it's hard!
