Places to watch Queens funeral in Belfast

I'm staying in Belfast over the weekend with flight back late Monday night.
I'll have my parents with me (in their 70's) and I know they will want to watch the funeral.

Our hotel is in City Centre and checkout is 11am but wondering where we can go to sit and watch the funeral. Hotel can't guarantee late checkout and it hasn't been possible to change flights to day before (and anyway they are refusing as family occasion planned for the Sunday which I understand).

Does anyone know of anywhere where we might be able to sit and watch it? I'd be happy to watch a recording when we got back but they are both desperate to see it live on the day (particularly my father who met the queen many times due to his work and absolutely adored her 😢 )

Kind people of mumsnet, any ideas where I can sit them down somewhere warm for a few hours?

Hi, I saw your post when browsing online and find it heartwarming that you wish to watch HM The Queens Funeral on Monday with your family. There is yet to be any official information regarding the showing of the funeral in any public areas of Belfast.

There are some places in Belfast which will be honouring the event and showing the Funeral. One of which immediately springs to mind is the Longfellow Bar in East Belfast. I am sure you would be most welcome here.

I’m really not sure if Hotel bars etc. will be showing it also and it may be worth asking them in advance. If I find out any further information I’ll be sure to come back and let you know.

I hope that you and your family enjoy your time here in Belfast in such a sad time

The funeral is being shown on a large outdoor screen in the grounds of City Hall, but that might not be the most comfortable option for elderly parents.

@HelloVeritas From Belfast City Council website:

"The state funeral of Queen Elizabeth II will take place at 11am in Westminster Abbey on Monday 19 September. It will be broadcast live on a big screen in the grounds of Belfast City Hall."

There you go!

Thank you so much. This is really helpful. Neither of my parents have great mobility so was trying to avoid traipsing too much but I will investigate further and make a plan.

Thanks again x

I'd imagine it's being streamed on the main news channels.

There is a live stream of the Queen lying in state on You Tube, so I'm sure you'd be able to find a stream of the funeral on there too.

If your hotel is in the city centre, you won't be far from the City Hall, it just might be a bit chilly.

Unfortunately we have to check out of our hotel at 11am latest so was hoping to find somewhere they could sit in the warm to watch it Smile

Could you watch it on an iPad? Which hotel are you staying in?

Did you find somewhere to watch on the day @HelloVeritas?
