Are there still long queues at Heathrow?

We're flying from T5 in a few days - afternoon flight. The airport website still says to get there 3 hours ahead of your flight but is that really necessary? I get that it was needed during the summer holiday rush but I would've thought things had calmed down by now.

Has anyone flown out from there in the past week or so?

I went through last week and it was totally fine.

I flew from there on Friday afternoon. Took about 30 mins to get through security but passing by a bit later it was empty.

Was fine on Thursday morning. But that was early, 7am or so. Might be busier at other times?

Went 3wks ago, no queue at all

Three hours before an international flight is standard advice
I flew from T5 three weeks ago and had dropped baggage and gone through security in about 20 minutes tops so had lots of time to relax and drink coffee the other side.

I flew out of terminal 5 last Tuesday afternoon. No word of a lie, I cleared security in 5 minutes, no queue at all.

It's going to depend entirely on how many flights are due to leave at similar time (and how many staff are in)

Arrived back at T5 this morning after leaving there a week ago. All fine apart from the wait for our bags this morning🙄
