Quick question about getting to Buckingham Palace

Lemonsonparade · 11/09/2022 07:24

Is it possible to get an Uber from Victoria train station to Buckingham Palace?

Would it be able to stop anywhere near or is it better to approach a different way?

Thanks to anyone who knows or has been.

It's only 10 minutes walk. By far the easiest way.

LizziesTwin · 11/09/2022 07:27

Just walk. There’ll probably be lots of people carrying bunches of flowers to follow.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 11/09/2022 07:47

Walk!! It's about half a mile.

Fullofpudding · 11/09/2022 07:49

You can't get near Buckingham palace now. It's all shut off. You can only get as far as green park.

WhereAreWeNow · 11/09/2022 07:52

It's a 5-10 min walk from Victoria. It'd be slower in a cab because of road closures, traffic, and one way systems.

steppon · 11/09/2022 07:56

the cab wouldn't be able to get close as roads are closed - I was there Friday. Can you get to green park tube, short walk from there.

BrownTableMat · 11/09/2022 08:02

I don’t think people understand just how crowded central London is right now and will get increasingly for the funeral. You’d be unlikely to get an Uber, and if you did, as others have said, the roads around the palace are closed so it wouldn’t get through. Walking is probably your only option, and if that isn’t possible I don’t think you can do it.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 11/09/2022 08:02

Green Park tube is one stop north of Victoria on the Victoria line (pale blue) @Lemonsonparade .

steppon · 11/09/2022 08:10

cycling is a good option, it's lovely to have so little traffic tbh.

Walk!! It's about half a mile.

Not everyone can do a half a mile walk.

I think I would have made comments like this though, before I developed a chronic illness.

Decidualcast · 11/09/2022 08:15

How is your mobility? I live in C London and lots roads are shut.

Lemonsonparade · 11/09/2022 08:18

Thanks everyone. Is Green Park station open?

You can get the 38 bud from Victoria to Green Park and walk from there (or the tube- one stop on the Victoria line.

Both cut about 5-10 mins from the walk. Tube much quicker.

Bit if you physically can - walk.

No chance of an Uber or can - and it would take ages and not get you any closer than the bus or tube.

LIZS · 11/09/2022 08:19

You might as well walk along Buckingham palace road. Buses will stop behind or at Hyde Park Corner but you will have almost as long a walk to the front. Ubers are less of a thing in central London, it is black cabs.

Thanks everyone. Is Green Park station open?

It was closed yesterday

LIZS · 11/09/2022 08:20

Green Park is open and you can walk through.

Thanks everyone. Is Green Park station open?

It was closed yesterday, and when it reopened the Victoria line wasn't stopping.

However it's not outside the palace, still a few mins walk so I'd just walk from Victoria unless you have mobility issues.

Also depends what you want to do - if you want to lay flowers the queue bends up to Hyde Park Corner so you might be better heading there.

sm40 · 11/09/2022 08:22

It's almost quicker to walk
From Victoria than get on the tube and walk from green park. If you have mobility issues you have still got to walk a fair bit from either place.
I went yesterday. The roads are closed from half way to BP from Victoria. We got there at 8.30am and it was still quiet and could walk about easily so if any issues I would get there early.

KindergartenKop · 11/09/2022 08:24

Yesterday afternoon Green Park station was closed. The roads closest to BP are shut. Walk from Victoria, it's 10 mins max.

alrightfella · 11/09/2022 08:32

Green park tube is closed. Go to Victoria and it's a ten minute walk. The roads are shut to traffic but pedestrians are fine on the pavements.

Geranium1984 · 11/09/2022 10:36

Is really close to Victoria Station. By the time you've organised an uber you could've walked!
There will be lots of road closures too so an uber won't get you far

MrsLargeEmbodied · 11/09/2022 10:41

how about charing cross?
then you can walk down the mall?

gratefulheart · 11/09/2022 10:41

Would I better going into London at Charing Cross or st pancreas if I wanted to avoid using the tube. Sorry, sense of direction is terrible

Seemslikeaniceday · 11/09/2022 10:50

Charing Cross is better, turn left walk towards Trafalgar Square, cross over and and walk through Admiralty Arch onto the Mall.

Decidualcast · 11/09/2022 11:17

Victoria to St James tube on Circle is also an option. Green Park is a mammoth one to get around. Avoid.
