Parking - Birmingham New Street

I need to drive (from far away) and park to get a train from Birmingham New Street next Saturday. I need to park for around 12 hours. Parking at/close to the station seems to be ££££ - where can I park that is less ££££?!

Look for a station with parking on the outskirts and park there and get the train in to New Street.

MorganSeventh · 10/09/2022 18:04

Which direction are you coming into the city from?

mummyh2016 · 10/09/2022 18:04

Where are you coming from? I would recommend parking somewhere like Blake Street which is free then get the train to New Street. Obviously only works if you're coming from north/north east.

TokyoSushi · 10/09/2022 18:05

Coming from near Manchester so that could work, but train is at 8am and doesn't return until 11pm - sorry, that would have helped!

Last train to Blake Street is 11.15pm but if you didn't want to risk missing it have you looked if your train passes through international? Daily rate for parking there is £12.

mummyh2016 · 10/09/2022 18:11

I've just looked and last train from new street to international is at 0040.

TokyoSushi · 10/09/2022 18:12

Oh it does go through international, would that be better to park there?

It's next to the NEC and airport so lots of parking and it's £12, what were you being quoted by NS?

TokyoSushi · 10/09/2022 18:18

New Street was something bonkers like £54 for the day but it seems that I can park at international all day on a Saturday for £9 which would obvs be much better!

Birmingham International has parking and you can pre book

TokyoSushi · 10/09/2022 18:21

I'm going to do that, and would absolutely never have thought of it if it hadn't been suggested here!

Mumsnet to the rescue yet again!

Parking at International is going to be much easier, and it's going to be a far easier drive as well using the M6 toll road

Kualma · 10/09/2022 18:24

All train stations in the West Midlands have free parking (well not all but 95% of them do) at railway stations so consider using Selly Oak station and getting the train into Birmingham.

I use a car park on Hurst Street (Chinatown) which is £1 an hour and about 10 minutes away from New Street

Danikm151 · 10/09/2022 18:26

Digbeth is £3.50 all day
