Instead of the flowers.....

There should be reclaimed/recycled wood or similar specifically sold for these occasions.

Perhaps made by people with disabilities or similar so they get income when sold.
Charities benefit as well. They are placed at the castles or tower of London.

Then re used .

That wouldn’t stop people buying flowers.

“People with disabilities or similar”? You do realise people with disabilities can do all sorts of jobs beyond just making wood stuff?

Mxyzptlk · 10/09/2022 17:47

Flowers seem to be a terrible waste but they do provide jobs for a lot of people.

Simonjt · 10/09/2022 17:50

So lets say my husband with a disability quits his professional job to make said tat, how would the supply chain have these items avaiable for when they’re needed?

Skinnydecafflatte · 10/09/2022 17:53

It does seem a bit of a shame the money spent on flowers that could go to good causes and they will be left to die.

But then for reasons that I can’t necessarily explain, I’ve bought some today and will head to London tomorrow to lay them at Buckingham Palace or wherever they are putting them. It just seems like the ‘right thing’ to do.

NuNameNuMe · 10/09/2022 17:55

I wish they provided many large buckets of water so you could at least take the flowers out of their wrapping, and let them be enjoyed.

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 10/09/2022 17:58

I have a disability. I know jack-shit about woodcarving.

I’d probably lop off a finger.

May I just just stick to my regular full-time job instead, please?

tectonicplates · 10/09/2022 17:59

How patronising towards disabled people. Why not just let people have the jobs they want instead of making wooden flowers?

LadyCatStark · 10/09/2022 18:01

What sort of wood? Wooden flowers? A wooden statue of the queen herself? Just plain planks of wood?

BakedTattie · 10/09/2022 18:02

“Perhaps made by people with disabilities or similar so they get income when sold.”
