Do you live in the town/city you were raised in?

If not, how far away do you live from it?

Me personally, couldn’t wait to leave! I grew up in North Worcestershire and left as soon as I went to university. Never came back except for a few months while I looked for a job after graduating.

No. I left for University at eighteen, moved to another city for my masters, crossed the Atlantic at 24, then crossed back to another country at 30. I’ve never lived back “home” since 18.

megletthesecond · 10/09/2022 16:24

Yes.

Sparklingbrook · 10/09/2022 16:24

I could not wait to get out of there as an adult. Loved growing up there as a child/teen but moved about an hour away and now live in- Worcestershire. Grin

Lonelycrab · 10/09/2022 16:25

No. Grew up near an average Sussex town, moved to south London aged 19 and stayed until I was 45, now in Hampshire.

MrsMop1964 · 10/09/2022 16:28

I've gone from Lancashire to Sussex with a lot of detours in between, including 3 different countries overseas.

AdoptedBumpkin · 10/09/2022 16:29

Raised in various parts of South London, now in Derbyshire.

Cuddlywuddlies · 10/09/2022 16:37

Yes but I did move away for university and then for a further 9 years. I wanted to be near my family and where I’m from is a great place to raise dc.

HebeSunshine · 10/09/2022 16:38

No, but only about 10 miles away.

Hbh17 · 10/09/2022 16:38

No. Left at 18 & never been back (in nearly 40 years). Thank goodness.

Where in Worcestershire do you live? I don’t think where I grew up was a terrible place (I grew up in Redditch) - I just found it boring!

Yes. Didn’t plan to come back but DH is from around here too, our families and some friends are here and it ended up making sense.

janedani · 10/09/2022 16:43

I live 1 mile away in the next village from my parents house where I grew up and they still live. My children attend the same primary that I went to, I love knowing the area inside out and seeing lots of familiar faces.

Codingand36 · 10/09/2022 16:43

I live about 10 miles from where I grew up. But I moved away as a teen for university. Then lived in London for about 5 years. I deeply regret coming back.

Backwards, boring, jobless, pointless little shithole with extraordinarily high house prices because it's a tourist destination.

Sigh. I want to move away ASAP! 🤣

TooManyMoronsHere · 10/09/2022 16:43

No, live in SE, moved 25 miles away in my early 20's. Would never live back in my hometown, it's way too small town and grimey.

crosstalk · 10/09/2022 16:43

No. Nor did my grandparents, their siblings my parents or siblings or me and my siblings. No home town or at times countries. Made it a lot more interesting IMHO and we still get together ... good on Skype, Zoom and Facetime.

StopFeckingFaffing · 10/09/2022 16:45

No. I have ever returned to live in my home town on a permanent basis since going to university

I have settled in an area which is about a 90 minute (in good traffic!) drive from where my parents still live

My home town is actually quite a nice area to live in and somewhere that people choose to relocate or retire to but i can't ever imagine myself living there again it would somehow feel like a backwards step

StopFeckingFaffing · 10/09/2022 16:45

*never

JadeSeahorse · 10/09/2022 16:46

Just over the border in the next county.

Crikeyalmighty · 10/09/2022 16:48

Grew up in Mansfield in East Midlands- moved away post divorce aged 28. Have lived all over southern half of uk since apart from 20 months in Copenhagen

Babdoc · 10/09/2022 16:48

Grew up in Middlesex, moved 450 miles, to the edge of the Scottish highlands, to go to uni, and haven’t been back in 20 years.

Harry Styles was born in Redditch Grin I'm a few miles out of Worcester and don't miss a thing about where I grew up, it's much nicer here.

Bluevelvetsofa · 10/09/2022 16:49

I’ve gone from West Yorkshire to the south coast, via London, Surrey and Hampshire.

emmetgirl · 10/09/2022 16:50

No, moved away at 18 and now live 400 miles away.

LT2 · 10/09/2022 16:51

Yes. I'm 31 and still live there. My mum still lives in the house I was born and grew up in! It's a lovely town that I never want to move from.

maeveiscurious · 10/09/2022 16:54

Left for Uni, overseas twice then SE now 15 miles from where I grew up but living in a culturally different area
