How do I complain to Royal Mail

I’m hoping there is a postie or similar that can help. In the past month, I have received post for 5 different houses, once for next door, one for a different house with a similar number (think 298 instead of 289) but the others have been seemingly random houses up to half a mile away on different roads. I tried the website but it seems you can only fill out a very specific form which doesn’t cover this. I’ve been honest and gone our of my way to return lost mail but it makes me wonder where my post is going and I am waiting on a couple of letters that haven’t shown and a magazine subscription.

I’d leave it by the door with a note to the postman saying you delivered these but not our address

Or just contact them via the various channels listed on their website

To save you googling personal.help.royalmail.com/app/answers/details/a_id/5156

I'd go into the local delivery office and ask to see the manager.

Just pop them back in the post box. When they wait ages for post they can all complain...
RM are good regarding complaints ime.

My experience has been the opposite- once when I complained that a letterbox gift hadn’t been delivered and once when I rearranged a delivery and the new delivery date was ignored.

On both occasions I’ve had no response to my complaint.

mommybear1 · 10/09/2022 13:29

I just put them back in the postbox.

DH is a postie. Phone your local delivery office, ask to speak to one of the managers and they'll get it sorted foe you.

I phoned their complaint line when I started to get letters for houses with almost the same street name in another village, some of my mail had also gone missing.

They obviously took action because the postie knocked on the door and practically threw my mail in my face (it was letters so no need to knock) but it worked since I didn't keep getting mail that was not mine.

Don't bother, they don't give a shit and I say this from personal experience

@mostgirlswantamanwiththeblingbling thanks, yes I did see this but as it’s happening so frequently that I think just putting it back in the postbox isn’t good enough and something needs to be reviewed.

Thanks for all the other helpful answers - will speak to the sorting office. Sadly I can’t use the phone so I’ll have to cycle up there one day!

Putting a wee note on the door saying "mail for x name only please" might help. Try and talk to the postie on your route, it might be someone new who hasn't even realised what they are doing. If it's different streets etc then that's really not acceptable and it will be an issue with the actual sorting so raising it with the sorting office is the best bet. I'm always surprised when people say rm don't take complaints seriously cause at my depot they print out every complaint and you have to give a full explanation for every thing that happens, unfortunately mistakes do happen though, you go into this weird automatic mode by the time you are on house 500 of the day, sometimes you notice the mistake and try to get the letter back and you can't.
