Think we need to call her Catherine now!

Interesting

LydiaBennetsUglyBonnet · 09/09/2022 18:37

Yes I agree!
the right decision IMO

Redglitter · 09/09/2022 18:37

Diana was referred to as Di, so probably not 😁

No she was mostly called (incorrectly) Princess Diana.

She's always been known as Catherine

wonderingwhatsnext · 09/09/2022 18:56

Isn't she Princess William of Wales because she was born a 'commoner '? Or are they finally moving with the times?

BritneyBeers · 09/09/2022 18:55

She's always been known as Catherine

In reality shes almost always referred to as Kate, and Kate Middleton at that by the press

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 09/09/2022 18:58

The press always call her Kate. I agree it's about time they use Catherine

Though I'd imagine some of the red tops are positively spinning at the further comparisons they can now make between her and Diana.

Up to now she's been known as duchess of Cambridge because that is a higher rank than Princess William (which she also technically is). But now she's Catherine, Princess of Wales, as opposed to Princess Catherine. Diana was the same, "Princess Diana" was never the correct title for her.

If they were moving with the times they wouldn't be inflicting a Prince and Princess on us

CaramelTwirl · 09/09/2022 19:05

Does it matter really?

She will be Her Royal Highness, The Princess of Wales.

Diana only became Diana, Princess of Wales after her divorce as a mark of her being the future Kings mother

BritneyBeers · 09/09/2022 19:14

@MILLYmo0se

Yes. I'm aware. Just because that's what the press calls her doesn't mean that's what she's called.

Aww…☺️

But yes, she should have always been referred to as Catherine - since the wedding, if not the engagement anyway.

PhillySub · 09/09/2022 20:58

The title of Prince of Wales is a gift from the Monarch, it is not automatically handed down.

toastofthetown · 09/09/2022 21:05

Why do we need to call her Catherine now? Not like I know the woman.

She was, but was known instead as the HRH the Duchess of Cambridge as that's an actual title rather than the royal style Prince William held before he got the Dukedom .

But she is now the Princess of Wales

Correct, but he has now conferred it

I think she’s just HRH The Princess of Wales, Catherine, Princess of Wales would imply she’s divorced, they always use that form for women divorced from titled men.

She only gets to plonk her own name in when she gets crowned in her own right and becomes Queen Catherine

So no need for Catherine or Kate from Plebs like us 😁
