Huw Edwards looked choked when making the announcement yesterday, as did Clive Myrie, but I think Trudeau appeared the most visibly moved.

I think the BBC should bow to the inevitable and have a split screen Edwards/Myrie sandwich, with Huw the thick crust and Clive the thin, of news journalism.

Those powerhouses pump so much news foam, it's like being sprayed at by a reportage water cannon filled with Paxman/Dimblebeys.

Not like the ITV news team: secretly unpright in posture, effete like they're secretly flicking the Vs, whilst eating Brie and wearing a beret.

Channel 4 try hard, but Jon Snow's history now, and sixth form swots have taken over fact gathering, like a big snow shovel of news.
