renewing a driving licence

How far ahead do you get a reminder to renew? Are there long waits like passports? Just wondered if I should be doing anything or just wait! Thanks

My licence expired in August, I got the letter a couple of months before. It was really easy to do online and I don’t think you particularly need the letter to do it. Cost £14 and new licence arrived about a week later.
