Where to buy a lunch bag for school?

DS has just started in reception and needs a bag for his snacks & packed tea for the wraparound care room. He's never had his own bag and wants to choose it himself.

I've never even thought where you buy such things and I don't really want the first shop we walk into to be hopelessly expensive (which will cue a huge paddy when I say no!).

Any suggestions for a good shop to choose which will have a decent range, not too pricey?

(Sorry if this sounds daft, he's been at nursery for three years and I'm normally at work so don't get to shops much).

I would avoid smiggle too overpriced and not even nice.

Supermarket is your best bet.

Online, if you want many selections. Supermarket if you want him to just choose one available there. It won't be expensive, unless you choose to go to certain shops.

NuffSaidSam · 09/09/2022 11:57

Any big supermarket will be your best bet or somewhere like Wilko or TK Maxx.

Avoid Smiggle for as long as you can. It's the worst shop in the world!

Smiggle have a lot of the lunchboxes on 50% off at the mo. We always get them from there and they’re fine!

Hype online. Usually have discounts if you sign up.
Had backpacks and food bags/flasks last yeeeeears from there. And loads of designs to choose from.

Always get mines from Aldi. Paid between 3.50 for a cheery character one with a fold over top secured with velcro and 6.99 for a for one thats more of a cube with two zipped section.

First one for snacks for after school club etc Latter for sports camps day

They were reduced in Sainsbury's yesterday.

Treay · 09/09/2022 12:16

One of the supermarkets probably the best bet, my local tesco has a decent selection of cheap chharacter and colourful lunchboxes.

Thanks for the suggestions! Off to have a look...
