BO smell

Swampmonster1988 · 08/09/2022 20:59

I'm noticing I'm smelling quite strongly of BO a few hours after showering. I shower daily, wear new clothes daily, wear Mitchum anti perspirant but I still only last a few hours before I smell of BO. My clothes smell after a few hours too. I use soap rather than shower gel as I read that helps but it's no different. It's embarrassing. What can I do?

Oddly, I find Mitchum deodorant (the aerosol ones at least) smell a bit like BO. I bought one each for me and for DS on offer last month. I started accusing him of not showering, but then got whiffs of myself too. Swapped back to usual Lynx / Sainsburys deodorant and pong sorted. I think it was just the Mitchum scent?

So my advice is switch deodorant...

nuudcare.co.uk/

This was recommended on here to another poster but I tried it because I had a recurring problem with boils under my arms due to an autoimmune thyroid medical issue. It is a GAMECHANGER! I cannot recommend it enough it has changed my life. It is expensive and I use more than I should but my underarms have been transformed and I have very few boils now tbh they are almost gone. But, the BONUS is that there is also no BO smell either at the end of the day or in the morning when I wake up or if there is it's very minimal. Honestly, it is amazing. I'm sad they do not have a body lotion cause I would literally cover myself head to toe in the stuff. I have some weight to lose and I have always had big boobs anyway. On holiday in Spain during the heatwave, I slavered it between and underneath my boobs and under my belly flap where my bothersome caesarian scar is and it was so effective. I know it doesn't work for everyone and I was sceptical at first but I stuck with it and now I buy it in bulk so I don't run out!

I found the same with Mitchum aerosol recently but switching to the Mitchum stick has been a game changer.

Op the smell can sink into the armpits of clothes and when you sweat it brings the smell out more. Make sure you spray the armpits of your tops with white vinegar before putting into the wash machine (you can buy in home bargains or b&m in the cleaner aisle). It works wonders.

This happens to me when I wear polyester tops.

I use the scent free roll on one

My clothes smell fine before I put them on.

Wash with benzoyl peroxide

inkworks273 · 08/09/2022 21:51

I read a tip once to use antibacterial soap on your armpits. Sometimes the bacteria builds up and this helps sort of reset it.

VerifiedBot2351 · 08/09/2022 22:06

Try Triple Dry deodorant. It’s a bit more expensive than Mitchum, but it’s often on offer.

vondutch · 08/09/2022 22:07

I have recently noticed this about myself too I wonder if Iv changed anything in my diet or supplements

Day20 · 08/09/2022 22:11

Wash with a bar of soap not shower gels.

The mitchum stick is fab and im a really sweaty person but it's a game changer. Don't bother with the wet roll ons.

Brighteyedtriangle · 08/09/2022 22:13

Ive had this a couple of times. Used thrush cream under my arms for a few nights and it went away. I think i had some sort of fungal infection.
There is also a medical deodrant that stings like mad but you put it on just once overnight and it blocks sweat glands so you dont sweat you can buy it over the counter but I cant remember what its called.

GingerLemonTea · 08/09/2022 23:32

I bought a bottle of apple cider vinegar from the supermarket. After showering I put some on cotton wool pads, wipe each armpit then place the pad in was just armpit for a minute or 2. Has helped from day 1. Read about it on here.

Thats the problem. Heat can bring out hidden bo smells. Ironing clean clothes used to bring the smell to our attention but nobody irons anymore so its not noticeable until too late. Try adding the dettol laundry liquid. It does work.

Gonksmum · 09/09/2022 01:08

A bit of antibacterial gel under the armpits can kill off any whiff.

Stick with it and use it more often than instructed to start I would never go back now. I still use spray on my body etc and nice smelling body lotion but my underarms are transformed using this I couldn't believe it myself after so many years of problems. I spent nearly 1 month away this summer in a heatwave and I was always comfortable and odour free under my arms. Hope it works as well for you.
