I can't get my piano in my house!

I'm rather distraught tbh. It's been with me my whole life. We're moving soon and we've just realised that while we can get the piano (an upright) into the house via some bifolds, it's really unlikely that we'll get it around the hallway corner and into the room we've designated for it.

I can't not take it. I play daily, my DC play and it was bought for me as a baby by my favourite Aunt. She died 10 years ago.

What are my options? I've tried to Google but not got very far - I can't seem to find any threads about this online.

I just can't leave it - it would break my heart Sad

Keep us posted! Mine (1950s solid beast) has been up, down and around various stairs and hallways and still sounds great. Top tip: if they up-end it on its side it will be fine but don't watch.

Professional piano movers are freaking amazing at making magic happen and getting pianos in and around small spots

Oh I absolutely LOVE you lot.
I was expecting zero responses and no hope whatsoever.

I shall keep you posted.

Make the doorway bigger if it's internal ?
I presume you mean you c at her it into the new house room?
If so just get it in the house and deal with it later

Are you sure it won’t fit? We have an old Victorian house and it went in with careful manoeuvring. Take a large bit of card, trace the outline of the end face and use it to try out the options as they’ll bring it through on its end.

It’s always been a standing joke in our family, every house I’ve looked at we have the “Where will the piano go?”. Definitely talk to a moving company who will advise.

For such a sentimental, important item, I'm surprised you didn't measure/get expert advice on the new place, beforehand!

Would it fit through the front door if the frame was removed? Would that route have less corners than accessing via the bifolds?

Keep us posted. I’d be very surprised if there wasn’t a solution. Unfortunately it could be costly.
