Do you think this is strange?!

This morning I’ve received 2 missed calls from 2 different mobile numbers. But they are both really similar to my own number.

So for example my number is:
12345 898000 (obviously not my actual number).

And the two numbers that have tried me have been:
12345 898111

and

12345 898222

Just thought it was very strange.

A while ago there was a social media thing where people were calling the next number on from them - so 12345 898001 would call you.

Might be something like that.

The answer is going to be much less exciting than you could imagine.

Thank you. I’ve since had a third one!

It's a thing and has been for a while, I don't see it but apparently you're more likely to answer a spam call if they spoof the number to be similar to yours

I've seen threads on here about it

Thanks @IcedOatLatte, that makes sense I guess.

Spoofing. It seems a lot of trouble to go to for probably no result in calling.

However, I’m constantly called ‘unfriendly’ for not answering unidentified calls.

Go figure…

I was thinking similar @swimlyn - ie, lot of effort to go to for a prank.

It is spam callers. Their computers 'spoof' a number very similar to your own, to make you think it is familiar, so you answer it.
