Urgent: UV car shades needed - newborn getting burnt!!!

We have a 2 year old and a nearly 3 week old and they travel in rear-facing seats in the back of the car. I've just noticed our tiny boy has a red patch on his head which can only be from UV rays through the car window. We only make short trips but are out at least once a day.

We are already HAVE UV sunshades on both back windows. They are Mamas and Papas ones so I assumed branded shades would offer protection but it seems not, plus they don't cover all of the window.

We've Googled and looked on Amazon but don't know what we're doing. It seems most of them don't cover all the window which defeats the object if you ask me!

We have a Hyundai i30 estate if that helps?

Thanks for any advice!

Have you considered UV film for the windows. It filters out 95%+ of UV rays. I've had it put on at a garage it cost about £60 a window six years ago but you could buy the film yourself if your handy/ patient.

Can you pop a hat on him in the meantime? I don’t know about sunshades, sorry.

Put a hat on them? Are you sure it's from the car?
