I'm very grumpy today because....

I couldn't get the plastic wrapping off a cucumber, I actually stamped my feet in frustrationBlush

In the last 24hrs I've been
shafted by a seller on vinted
had a refund refused in M&S (computer says no)
a customer was very rude
drove several miles to post an item via Evri, got stuck in a huge traffic jam and then that computer was also saying no

But it was the cucumber that was the last straw!

I am normally very even tempered but Christ alive, not today.

Is anyone else feeling particularly out of sorts today?

Damn school bus was full and my son was the only one who wasn't able to get on, so I wasted an hour taking him there and getting back. Older son, who we drive (in the opposite direction) then had to be taken by my husband, so the shelves I wanted put up in the office have to wait until after his gym session now. And my coffee got cold. Grrr. Silly really!

TheChippendenSpook · 07/09/2022 09:39

Yep! I took my son to school and then realised that he didn't have hos PE socks so had to go all the way back with them to be td that they probably won't have PE today 🙃

It's only his second day in year 7 and he's got dyspraxia and organisation isn't his strong point. We're working on with the occupational therapists but evidently it's not going well so far!

Akite · 07/09/2022 09:44

I've not felt well since my second bout of covid in April. Summer holidays have been a slog and I was really looking forward to my first peaceful day off this week to recuperate a bit. Instead I have a sinus/ear infection, a sore throat and to top it all off I've developed a MASSIVE cold sore overnight. I'm not feeling grumpy so much as very sorry for myself.

Paranoidandroidmarvin · 07/09/2022 09:44

Yes. I have been awake all night. Medical issues. So now I’m tired. And grumpy.

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 07/09/2022 09:47

DC with SEN threw up everywhere. Luckily it’s not Contagious has Cyclic vomiting syndrome, so had to clean that up before school. Got to school no one to one provided this morning so DC upset and stressed out and then I got home and came on heavy. Feeling sorry for myself and hungry as had a fast day yesterday but can’t be asked to move yet as I’m achy.

RiftGibbon · 07/09/2022 10:14

I'm really, really tired.
DC has just started at senior school. It's not local and because of traffic/iffy bus services we have to leave home at the time we were waking up when they were at primary.
I'm menopausal with insomnia, feel randy all the time, but have no frwe time with DH currently. I have a ridiculous crush on a celebrity which I wish would go away.
I have a project to do for a friend but don't have time this week so beating myself up over that
I have a meeting tonight that I have to attend but don't want to.
UK politics right now.

The combination of this lot today has me teetering on the edge of screaming.

RishiSunak · 07/09/2022 10:15

I'm very GRUMPY today because... well nothing's really gone right for me these last couple of days Sad

LadyWithLapdog · 07/09/2022 10:16

I got really irritated at work yesterday. I got over it. Then this morning I was telling someone about it and I got worked up all over again.

recklessgran · 07/09/2022 10:24

Yeah, I'm grumpy alright!
G.P. surgery refusing to print off the form for my DD's urgently needed blood tests. She has L.D's and a very close friend of mine who is a phlebotomist at the hospital has offered to come to our home and take her bloods to save her being traumatised [she's phobic] by a trip to the very same hospital. Surgery refusing to co-operate "in case something goes wrong". It's a blood test not a blinking heart transplant. SO mad that I now have to distress my DD completely unnecessariiy. I have emla cream - she either will co-operate or she won't but she's MUCH more likely to play ball at home. WHY is trying to make people understand L.D's so hard?

Oiwiththepoodlesalreadygg · 07/09/2022 10:28

I have the most agonising mouth ulcer so can't eat or drink properly and it also kept me awake all night - so frustrating that I couldn't sleep even when my two month old baby was sleeping. I am knackered today!!

Lookingformymarbles · 07/09/2022 11:37

It makes me feel a bit better knowing I'm not the only grump today!

Your post made me laugh LadyWithLapdog so thanks for a moment of lightness

So often it's the small issues that add up to a tipping point especially if you're sleep deprived.

Those with medical issues causing grumpiness, I'm sorry and hope things improve/get resolved.

Am dying to know who your celebrity crush is RiftGibbon

I’ve got Covid again. My throat is so sore I don’t know what to do with myself

Gemzee · 07/09/2022 12:53

Son started School on Monday, mornings only for first 2 weeks (pick up at 11.30am), I'm working half days to cover it but it is really messing up my routine & I feel I'm doing rubbish at work and at parenting! (He used to go to nursery until 5.15pm!)
Tired, so so tired. Bored but rushed off my feet!
Perimenopausal I think (awaiting blood test results but so so many symptoms).
Kitten is loud & playful (lovely if I wasn't already stressed)
What shall I cook for dinner .. every single day!!??
Ok, think thats rant over. Thanks.

RiftGibbon · 07/09/2022 16:36

marbles they're not even in the UK, and I suspect not that many people have heard of them. I was bored today, waiting around for DC for hours, and so spent a happy 15 minutes browsing videos of them. I thought that oversaturation might be "too much of a good thing" (like eating too much cake makes you feel sick), but no.😊

BasiliskStare · 07/09/2022 16:42

@Oiwiththepoodlesalreadygg Have you tried rinsing with warm water and salt. Sound all a bit what they did in the olden days on ships , but I had a mouth ulcer once and the dentist said it was as good as anything. It worked.

familyissues12345 · 07/09/2022 16:55

I've just got a lot on at the moment which is keeping me awake at night. Last night made worse by DS being out and me worrying Hmm.

So I'm Mrs Grumpy mcgrumppants today Grin

Hi, thank you, I have - it definitely provides some relief but only temporarily. Also tried corsodyl mouthwash and bonjela gel... I think because it's on the side of my tongue it catches my teeth whenever I eat or speak which is so painful. Just need to ride it out and hope it doesn't last too long!

BasiliskStare · 07/09/2022 19:31

@Oiwiththepoodlesalreadygg Ah sorry it has not worked already - but I think keep going with the salt and water & Bonjela & Corsodyl - if it catches between your tongue and teeth I can see that would keep irritating it. Perhaps soup and eating on the other side of your mouth. Anyway that is the best idea I can give which worked for me.

I wish you well - it is miserable whilst it lasts - but my bet is it won't last too long - 💐I hope not ( it just feels like it )

NoMoreChubRub · 07/09/2022 19:56

Its raining. My dcs arent indoorsy. Crafts last 10 min before theres glue and glitter everywhere and they're bored = i clean up. Whilst doing that they're whinging they're bored, hungry, thirsty.
Sort them snack drink etc

Get playdoh out. 20 min. Bored! Repeat cycle with various other tasks

By 2pm i let them on devices all afternoon. Except when we popped to asda.

Tomorrow is looking similar. The soft play here is huge. 2 different age groups so cant play same area. Can never get the youngest (2) to cone when take 4yo to loo. Its more stressful unless i can get a friend to come along keep me sane!

Oiwiththepoodlesalreadygg · 07/09/2022 20:19

@BasiliskStare thanks for the lovely message - fingers crossed!

ilovebagpuss · 07/09/2022 21:30

Everything:
Driving a long way for work (only a few days but it's giving me the rage)
Forgot kids dental check up had to ring and grovel for new one.
Sainsburys had 2 staff on normal tills and have now opened a serve yourself trolley section so these poor buggers were slowly emptying and scanning their trolleys self check out style. I refuse to self checkout so had to wait ages.
Cat keeps bringing me mice at night so I'm tired.
Can't find DD 12 PE skort thought I had washed and put it away but no, feel disorganised and useless.
Just a grumpy old bag really!

RiftGibbon · 07/09/2022 21:34

Today's irritations have been
Not being able to get the talc DH likes (it's been unavailable for a year) despite being told that it would be in stock this month
Not being able to find any peppermint softmints
Having to go to a meeting/training session this evening when I am tired
Finding a batch of forms I should have sent in to DC on day 1 of school

Notjusta · 07/09/2022 21:38

Because PMS

And Tesco cocked up my delivery so I had go get it, then 'everything' (ok 3 things) had a short date. Then kids ate 'everything' within five minutes of being home.

Winterisc0ming · 07/09/2022 21:39

I woke up with a headache again this morning.
I now have a sore throat too.
Work is a disaster trying to solve other peoples issuea.
3yo has been hard work.
Trying to be healthy so I made plain rice and chicken for dinner. It was bad and DH looked at it after his two hour drive from work and said 'im a celebrity, get me out of here'. 😂😂 I can make decent healthy dinners but just didnt have the head to do it after an awful day.

TokyoSushi · 07/09/2022 21:44

I've started running. I'm really enjoying it and losing weight. But I keep sabotaging it by eating crap. 4x pain au chocolats anybody? Gah! Just stop bloody eating rubbish!
