Boden September Issue - wowser

Anyone seen it? Came through my letter box today and I'm struggling to understand the high neck collars, fancy necklaces and strange shoes. Wellies with work wear?

I always imagine Boden for teachers but they'd definitely get bullied by the Year 9s if they turned up styled like this.

Special mention for the high waisted checked shorts on page 6 for autumn/winter.

Sorry if anyone is particularly enamoured by it all - just seems like a bit of a departure styling wise.

It's been getting worse over the past few seasons. I used to buy a lot from them, but the very odd styling plus the huge rise in prices since Brexit (I'm in the EU) means that I don't buy from them at all now.

Have to agree it was all a bit fancy dress. I used to buy loads from them but cant relate to the current styles at all. Even the models looked embarrassed

I have just been flicking through the brochure and it looks very like Laura Ashley in the late 80s (Harry would have loved Laura Ashley in the late 80s, I imagine…)

I actually like quite a lot of it which is new for me. I usually don't like Boden at all. The prairie dresses are not my style but I don't like dresses in general but the tweed shorts, culottes, corduroy, and embroidery I really like.

I flicked though it at lunchtime today. I'm clearly not the target audience especially as the text was so small I couldn't read the descriptions of the clothes 🤣

I think they’re trying to appeal to a younger market. But they’ve always had a lot of terrible shit among the good stuff.

I used to love Boden but it's been rubbish the past couple of years, prices are crazy and the sizing is really inconsistent. I haven't looked through the catalogue yet

I actually quite liked those shorts...but not for winter.
They've definitely changed though, haven't had any dresses I liked for ages ( the few promising ones didn't fit right) and I used to live in their t-shirts as they were lovely quality but the latest lot were really thin and didn't last.

I like their slash neck t-shirts so restocked this summer, but I’ve barely worn the navy one and it’s already developed one of those tiny holes which suggests the fabric quality is not as it used to be. Annoyed as it wasn’t cheap!

There are much better quality, cheaper and classier options out there now

Vinted and Depop. Lots of new with tags stuff on there from several seasons ago before Boden's styling went mad. I've bought several Favourite Cardigans, a pair of jeans, and two jumpers so far. eBay also worth a look obvs.

Warehouse for dresses too. Tops come up a bit small there so I'd order larger.

Also, just ordered a dress from nobody's child which I'm waiting for. First order from there so not sure what it'll be like.

I do find some nice things on Little Mistress but you do have to wade through all the very glam going out dresses with cut outs.

Asos can be good too.

Well It’s obvious that 50+ Women (the original yummy mummies) are no longer important to Boden. I flicked through the catalogue and can say that there is absolutely nothing that appealed to me. Boden was my go to company for years. I purchased one item from the ss22 season and although I gave it a 5 star review, the product shrank when washed and is now going in the charity bag. Overpriced, bizarre styling and low quality, but expensive, Chinese tat. Really disappointing.
