Been looking for a new shed for the last year our wooden one has fallen apart and it's needed replacing for years, me and dh been umming and aching about it for ages he was determined he wanted a concrete one(as his dads got a big one) that cost £4000 i have had big reservations about it . The look of it, the money , the uproar it could bring around the neighbours having such a permanent structure ect we have very funny neighbours.
We only have a small garden it just wouldn't have gone where we needed it to. Weve been in constant discussions for months about it!
Anyway I finally managed to convince him it wasn't right and we should get a keter plastic artisan shed it was £1150 after all day discussions about this bloody shed he said go on get it so i've just brought it from argos online, i just feel bad as I know that's not what he actually wants and his probably said yeah to me so I shut up about it hahahaha . Im going to need to be a good wifey now lol
Have you paid such a lot of money for a shed? the reviews of keter look really good and you get a 15 year guarantee on them

I wouldn't pay that for a plastic one. I've got a much smaller Keter one for about £350 which is fine but if I had £1150 to spend I'd get a decent quality wooden one and look after it, invest in really good locks etc, but it depends what size you need.

I need a new shed. Ideally Keter. I'm thinking £500 tops. Just want to chuck the bbq and lawn mower and other crap in.

We got a Keter bike shed and spent the last weekend putting it together. The quality was shocking. Bent screws, holes on one board and not on another (had to resort to using a drill) bent metal pieces and a whole chunk of plastic peeling off of one side. We contacted keter for replacement parts only to be told there simply aren't any due to supply issues. So to be honest, not sure it was at all worth the money (£400 for ours). That said my parents have one of the actual trad sheds and love it- so maybe we just got a rubbish one?!

I bought a smaller version. It's utter crap. I wish I'd spent a bit more for a proper wooden one.

I think I have the same shed! I love it, it really makes the garden look smart. Everyone who visits comments on the shed, honestly!! And we'll never have to paint it/refelt the roof etc.

Couldn’t really raise any interest in a garden shed. But if I ever have to be a good wifey lol you could shoot me now.

I had to google it to find out what they looked like and realised it’s the same as a friend has. She uses it as a workshop and looks great!

We have a Keter large storage box. Cost about £250.

The first sadly had a broken part and they had no replacement in stock but the warehouse girl was excellent and impressed us, so we demolished, sent back for a refund and bought another. Its fab.

Not sure what a much bigger item will be like in winds and rains but I've been impressed by Keter as a company so far.

“Artisan” plastic shed? Is it hand crafted by skilled craftspeople?

I’ve just looked it up. It’s certainly a bold choice but looks ever so roomy.

Gardenista · 06/09/2022 20:03

I have spent similar on a keter shed - the 8 ft x 11 ft factor shed, it' been up for 2 years - no rodents, which I had on my old wood shed, no maintenance, it also has a 15 year guarantee. Once you have factored in the cost of your time to maintain a wooden shed - repaint, re felt etc I think it's value for money.

Costco has better prices and customer service than argos on keter products - I have storage boxes and bin stores from keter too - very happy with the quality

We spent £5000 on our shed and it’s amazing. We live in a small house and this gives so much more storage, it also has electricity. I was against it at first but I am a convert after seeing how useful it is.

Xpologog · 06/09/2022 20:23

Some advantages — mouse proof & does it have the roof that lets light through? I’ve found that helpful.
Disadvantages — they feel flimsy even tho I know mine is built really well. You can’t lean stuff like ladders, garden umbrellas against the walls.
Wouldn’t have paid £1000 plus tho.

Shop around there are websites selling the same shed for under £800!
