Should I wake her up?

Wasn't sure where m to post this - apologies if in the wrong place.

I'm a FTM with a 7 week old who usually feeds every 3 hours. I last fed her at 5pm. She had a bath at 7pm and fell asleep straight afterwards. I expected her to wake up at 8pm for a feed but she's still sleeping now (9:23pm). Do I wake her up or let her sleep, assuming she'll just wake up when she's hungry?

I remember being told that babies that young can go deeper & deeper to sleep so you do need to wake them. Which completely contradicts the saying 'never wake a sleeping baby'!

ProseccoStorm · 05/09/2022 21:25

If she's a good weight with no concerns over feeding I would let her sleep.

Some babies do sleep through from that age, you might have one!

Wake her and feed her. You can’t be too careful with such a young baby.

If she's a good weight/no concerns then let her sleep and pray you've got one of those amazing sleepers!

She'll stir when she's hungry. I learned from experience don't wake a sleeping baby. Incredibly difficult to settle down again. Can I just say to enjoy every moment - my baby is 27 years old now and it just feels like yesterday that she was born!

What prosecco said. I wouldn't tbh. However I probably would before I went to bed around 10:30/11?

CandyLeBonBon · 05/09/2022 21:27

If she had t woken you by then I mean!

BattenburgDonkey · 05/09/2022 21:28

If she’s healthy and a good weight let her sleep, if there’s any extra factors (like if she’s was premature or is unwell) I’d wake her.

ZooMount · 05/09/2022 21:38

I never used to wake mine and they eventually started sleeping longer and longer at night. If she's a healthy weight and had plenty during the day I would just leave her. She will probably wake before 11 anyway. Some people like to dream feed before they go to bed so you could do that. Enjoy it!

She woke up 10 minutes after I wrote this post 😂
